This weekend I had to host an impromptu family dinner party, and I made all sorts of heavy-carb stuff. Cheese soup thickened with flour, egg rolls, Monte Christo w/raspberry sauce and powdered sugar, fajitas, rosemary garlic bread, chocolate ice cream, fruit punch and sweet tea...

I gave myself permission to have a little bit of everything, provided that I'd go back on Atkins the following day. (What's most interesting is, I didn't really care for any of it! None of it seemed worth it! Even the ice cream!)

That day my ketosticks went down from "Large" to "Medium." Today, it's at "Small." (I'm back on the plan.)

I'm a little weirded out. How is this possible? Did this NOT kick my system out of whack? Or are those just... leftover ketones from the week before, or something?

Just curious, since there's another family dinner party coming up at Easter, and there's no telling what they'll fix.

    Thanks!

Monte Christo could theoretically be made Atkins-friendly, too, I suppose. It's a deep-fried ham and cheese sandwich, with those sweet toppings.

I am in the induction period, and for the past 3 days or so I've let the 20 carb limit go because of family being in town. I've been in the induction for about 2 weeks and relatively strict about my carb intake. However the past three days I've been averaging around 80 carbs. What's this going to do??

It will slow you down Rosing, that's all. You already have developed the enzymes you need to produce ketosis so they are still there waiting for a job to do. When you go back to induction your weight loss will speed up again. Remember your body for many years has been used to running on carbs so it will always prefer to do that for a long while yet, and when it's running on ingested carbs it's not using your stored fat

Flo... I don't think Benshad was talking to you. Her comment was directed to rosing95.
