I did a glucose tolerance test this week (in week 33 of pregnancy) and discovered that although I don't have gestational diabetes, my numbers came out quite high - at the high end of the scale.
So, I need to cut down on my carbs and up my protein and vegetables. My big problem is that I suffer from heartburn bigtime and can't take any medications for it now (not because of the pregnancy, but because I am taking a homeopathic remedy).
Maybe going back to Atkins for a while is what I need to do. What I'm afraid of is starting to eat all the high fat foods again and what it will do to my heartburn. I can't remember if I suffered heartburn while doing Atkins, but in any event I wasn't pregnant then.
My nutritionist recommends eating chicken soup every day with the chicken and the vegetables and a meal of eggs and w.w. toast and anothe rmeal of maybe oatmeal. I am petrified of tuna, chicken, meat and yellow cheese because they are fatty and will give my heartburn.
Any ideas out there???
