Peanut Butter: Make your own low carb version

This is one of my favorites, since i'm very fond of peanut butter as a morning treat. Due to the high calorie content, however, moderate consuption is recommended.

    MY RECIPE

    - 12 oz. peanuts, unsalted. I prefer the dry roasted type, although you can use plain peanuts. Do not use the honey roasted, for obvious reasons.

    - 2 fl. oz. grape seed oil. This is one of the best oils, because of its great flavor and most important, it is the oil that has the higher polyunsaturated grade. You can find it in the gourmet section of your supermarket or maybe in a gourmet store. If you can't find it, use canola instead.

    - 3 packets regular splenda.

Mix all ingredients in a blender until creamy. I like creamy peanut butter the most, but if you want it crunchy, just blend the mix up to the point you want.

The carb count on this is around 1gr. per tbsp., which is significantly lower than the 4gr. of the regular commercial type. Besides, you get the benefit of the grape seed oil, and the lack of preservatives and emulsifiers as well. Also by using splenda, you get it with no refined sugar also.

VERY GOOD this recipe! Thank you!
I used to do a false one, with TAHINE and splenda.

But tahini has a strong bitter flavor, how can you stand it?? Besides, i believe the major ingredient of the tahini paste is a grain, which makes it unsuitable for the atkins regime.

Anyway, thanks, i hope you like the recipe.

    Great .

Now I can make my own peanut butter at home because I could not find any without sugar

As for Tahini..yum my favorite ...just add some Splenda and enjoy it ..it is very good to "cool down" your craving for carbs.

but after all Tahini is very high in calories and has a high cholosterol level. Usually I take only two spoons which is enough to make me feel full.

    Regards

How long does the peanut butter last? What do you normally store it in?

    fresh ground PB

I save time and money and just go to Winco foods and get the Peanut Butter they have. The have a machine with just plain peanuts no sugar, no salt nothing but peanuts and you flip a switch and it grinds it for you and it is about 150 for 16 oz very very good, and low carb and no work!!!
