    StevieL's recipe for flax bread

This is StevieL's recipe for flax bread. It's very filling and has helped me when I just can't seem to get enough to eat. I also sweeten and flavor it with DaVinci's when I'm needing something sweet.

    1 egg
    1 tbsp. Butter
    1 Splenda packet.
    splash of Vanilla Extract
pinch of cinnamon (I use a lil more than a pinch )
    2 tbsp. Flaxseed Meal
    1/4 tsp. Baking Powder

Melt the butter in a microwave safe dish. Add the eggs and vanilla (also add DaVinci's if you're using it). Mix with a fork. Add the dry ingredients, cover with a paper towel and microwave for 2 minutes.

edit: make sure you browse the entire thread - there are quite a few variations posted later, including a pizza crust and hamburger buns - bluehex

I'm not sure but all the ingredients are acceptable for Induction.

I made this twice yesterday. It is too good to be true. To me it is like actual bread. Same consistancy. Is there a limit on the amount of flax meal we should have in one day?[/i]

Well I just tried this "bread" and it was good. It's kind of a wierd looking bread but I put some butter on top and it tasted good. Maybe next time I'll try some sweetened cream cheese. I have some Keto fruit spread, would this be o.k. to put on my bread during induction?

Lynda, I'm not sure about the amount of flax allowable on Induction. I'm sure that as long as you are staying within your 20 g. a day, you're fine.

jakbsmomy, I don't know anything about the Keto fruit spread. I would say that it would have to wait until OWL. Even fruit isn't allowed on Induction. But that sure sounds good. I'd like to have some of my sugar free jam (made by the Amish) and some peanut butter on it.

Ben and I had our hamburgers on this yesterday. What a treat!!

Great idea, I had a hamburger for dinner last night. I stacked up all the toppings on a plate and ate it with a fork, now I can try some sort of bread substance with it next time.

Yeah, that's how we usually eat our burgers too. Bite of burger, bite of onion, bite of lettuce - last night I had onion, lettuce and a sugar free pickle on my burger!

I had cheese, mayo, mustard, thin slice of tomato, (is that bad), lettuce and some sauted red onion. Very yummy. Wish I could eat it every day. Where do you find sugar free pickles? I have some dill pickels and I'm not sure if they have sugar in them. I'm sure sweet pickles and relish have sugar but I don't like them, so I don't have to worry about it.

I pretty sure that dill pickles are fine. I eat them on Induction.

The sugar free pickles I buy are made by Mt. Olive. They are with the regular pickles. They have a blue label. Mt. Olive makes the sandwich slices, bread and butter chips and also sweet gherkins. I love them. I've put some in the food processor to make relish for my tuna and chicken salad. Yum! I've bought them at Wal-Mart and Kroger but not all Wal-Marts have them.

Oh, yes, and your thin slice of tomato was fine for Induction. Tomatoes are allowed but they are higher in carbs so you have to be careful with them - same with onions.

    faux MCGRIDDLES

I MAKE THIS EVERY MORNING FOR BREAKFAST AT WORK. ALL YOU DO IS GET A BABY BOWL THAT IS 3 OR 4 INCHES AROUND ,PUT ALL THE INGREDIENTS PLUS 1/2 TSP. MAPLE FLAVORING AND 1/2 TSP BUTTER FLAVORING,COOK FOR 125 SECONDS AND IT TURNS OUT PERFECT!!!!! THEN ALL YOU DO IS CUT IT IN HALF WITH BREAD KNIFE CRACK EGG IN SAME BOWL THAT YOU USED ,COOK FOR 40 SECONDS THEN USE BACON OR SAUSAGE AND A SLICE OF CHEESE IF YOU LIKE!! ALSO, I BUY ALREADY COOKED SAUSAGE PATTIES AT SUPER WALMART FOR ABOUT THREE DOLLARS. THIS SOUNDS LIKE ALOT BUT IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MINUTES ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR INGREDIENTS TOGETHER.

p.s. I HAVE EVEN MADE A FEW BUNS AND TOOK THEM CAMPING.

    Micro Bread Hamburger Bun

    Micro Bread Hamburger Bun

I made 1 1/2 batches of this last night in a round bowl, didn't add the vanilla extract or cinnamon, and only used half the splenda. It made a great hamburger bun Felt so nice to have a hamburger with a bun and all.

    Recipe:
    1 whole large egg
    1 egg white
    1 1/2 T butter.
    1/2 packet splenda.
    1/2 tsp Baking Powder
4 T Ground Flax Seed (preferably golden) (need extra flax to make up for cutting out the cinnamon)

Follow regular directions to make the bread, then cut in half and let it cool for about 10 mins. Broil in oven for 4 - 5 minutes or until golden brown. It's then ready for a hamburger and whatever toppings you like best on your burger.

Carb count for the bread itself is 1.4g
