I started atkins 2 weeks ago and have not seen the results others have seen in my family. I had gest diabetes with my last pregnancy, do you think that could have some effect on my body being insulin resitant?

babyfat yes. Most likely you were insulin resistant which turned to gestational diabetes due to the anti-insulin hormones released by the placenta while you were pregnant. If you weren't insulin resistant your body would have handled the pregnancy without developing gestational diabetes.
I have started taking L-Carnitine to help boost, do you think that will help give me a start, I feel as if I am getting no where.
I would have recommended chromium and magnesium, try the l-carnitine since you already have it but you really need coq10 to work in conjunction with carnitine.
Thanks! I will try that, I appreciate your time.
Many people who start with gestational diabetes later become Type II diabetics. I was headed that way but this diet headed it off. I would take alpha-lipoic acid (that moderates blood sugar). Acetyl-L-carnitine helps with the damage caused by diabetes (used to treat the nnerve damage associated with diabetes). Co enzyme Q-10 is an overall good anti-aging supplement. There are many studies on it's use for heart disease and some for anti-cancer a good dose is 50-100mg per day.
does anyone know the difference between oral insulin and the injections? My doc wants me to take the injections and it makes me cry just to think of it. BLEH!I dont get why I can not take the oral.
