Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi have 18 grams of carbs per can

I've been reading some posts on here and alot of people are drinking cans of diet coke/pepsi.......

I'm wondering if you knew that it contains that many carbs....... especially when you're only supposed to have 20 a day......and all the nutrisweet it contains.......

The best Diet drink out there for us is Diet Rite........ no carbs, no caffiene, no sodium, no calories.....and sweetened with Splenda

now I'm not really sure what's in it since it seems to have nothing..... but I find it awesome..... comparable to diet pepsi.

anyway, just thought I would let you guys know if you didn't know already.

    Hey Jen

My bottle of diet coke's nutritional label reads 0.1g per 100ml of carbohydrate...Where did you see about diet coke and carbs?

The carbs from these drinks come from sugar and as there is no sugar in diet varieties then there are no (or next to no) carbs. Sweetners don't contain carbs.

Dr Atkins himself reccomends drinking diet drinks although does suggest staying away from aspartame (in diet coke) but only because of the health and cancer issues not because of the carbs.

I have no idea where this idea about diet coke having 18 carbs came from. It simply isn't the case.

diet sodas do not have carbs

To the best of my knowledge, all diet sodas have NO carbs. I drink em' and stay in ketosis.

I read it in one of Atkins books..... maybe it's not a revised addition.... but I did read it the first time when I went on this diet.

The nutritional labels say it all. If it says 0 carbs...then it has 0 carbs (with the exception of all the net carb things).....especially a large company like Pepsi and Coka Cola. If they were to decieve the public as bad as you say, they'd better be ready for law suits gallore!

Anyway, I drink diet pepsis and cokes all day and they never set me back

    Good luck!

    Burp!

Diet drinks have almost no carbs; possibly none at all. Dr. Atkins had an issue with Aspartame, and one of the chemicals in it purportedly blocks fat loss in some people; but that is only anecdotal as far as I have been able to ascertain. I've drunk Diet Coke since day one and continue to do so. I use a lot of ice in it so it is quite diluted.

    Good Luck!
