    Sausages

Okay what ingredients in sausages should I be avoiding?

I avoid the ones that have sugar, syrup, or wheat filler thingies
but what other stuff should I be looking for in the ingredients?

I'm looking for food suitable for Induction.

    thanks

    Sausages

I would just count the carbs in the sausage. Avoid the ones with higher carb levels but don't worry about a few minor ingredients. Most of the flavorings, such as maple, are artificial or contain so little product that the content isn't an issue. I think it's almost impossible to find "pure" sausage unless you make it yourself.

I have gotten some of the sausage mixes from penzys.com and made my own with ground pork. It's nice, but takes some effort. You might consider that. I made patties and skinless links.

    Good Luck!

Here's a link to my homemade maple breakfast sausage recipe. I hope it makes life a little easier - and delicious!

If your in the UK (?) try Liddles Sausages, they are very large and only have Half a Carb each, Mattisons Smoked Dutch Sausage is in total 1.5 carbs but you only eat 1/3 at a time, if your in the US I think there are plenty of others which are okay,,,

Mattisons have carbs? I have been eating it (original version) and the nutritional info says 0.0g of carbs! can anybody confirm if that's correct please?

but anyway I came here to share a great finding I've been looking for decent low carb sausages in the UK for ages, tried asda, tesco, lido, aldi untill I saw on TV Sainsbury is making a sausage with 100% british beef, I ran there and found that it is in fact 95% beef but it has 1.3g of carb per 100g only! each sausage has 67g then it will be .87 g of carb per sausage! It is the lower I've found, has any Briton found any other sausage with less cabrs?

also can anybody more experienced tell me if one sausage of 0.87g Cabr is ok for breakfast during the induction period??

You can make your own sausage! Start with ground meat... pork, chicken, turkey, beef (or a combination of different ground meats). Then add seasonings that you like... ground sage to make it taste like sausage plus garlic, red pepper flakes, oregano, basil, salt and pepper, etc. You can form it into patties or roll it into "logs". It's also wonderful just cooked loose and thrown into things like scrambled eggs, quiches and stir fries. Spices will add minimal carbs. Making your own ensures that you're not getting any fillers (starches like grains) or unnecessary preservatives. Have fun with it!

Low carb sausages I recommend in the UK are The Black Farmer (in Tescos and probably others) and M&S.
