Most weight lost or gained in a single day?

What is the most weight any of you have gained or lost on a single day. I ask this question because in his book, the good Dr. Atkins said that a cheat can make one gain several pounds in one day.

Ok, I will go first. My weight has never fluctuated by for than 1.5 pounds in a day.

I could gain or lose up to 5 pounds in a day. Fluctuations like this are due to water. Back in my "partying" days, I could lose 8 pounds in a night - I'd be so dehydrated in the morning. I didn't weigh much to begin with, either.

Generally, I go up and down a few pounds on a regular basis.

I've read that one can't really lose more than 2 pounds of fat in a week. More than that, and it's water or muscle loss. Most of the weight we lose at the start of diets is water that has been retained.

I've noticed a flucuation of about 4 pounds as I begin to drink coffee in the morning. Its always disappointing to see the weight increase, but I have to remember its not fat, but water weight. I try to weigh first thing in the morning now to get my true weight for the day. After that, I leave the scale alone.

I weigh myself first thing in the morning every 3 days or so. I was getting discouraged cos I would see it fluctuate up to 3 pounds (and I never cheated).

When we were in our 3rd week of induction, we would weigh ourselves at various times of the week and find that we had gained a couple of pounds or lost one. Once we reached the day and time of the actual 'weigh in', we actually found that we had lost the bit that we though we had put on and lost a little more too. So now we don't bother, we only do it once a week. Then if we have put some on we can be disappointed for that day and get on with it, instead of being unhappy all the week.

Well, now, the whoosh fairy comes around every now and then and I have lost up to 4 pounds. But I guess that only 2 pounds of that was fat.

I think I lost 3lb in one day near the start. This is not uncommon, just don't get discouraged when it slows down after the first couple of weeks!
