    Hello from UK

Hi. I知 type 2 with high cholesterol! So, I知 here to work out what on earth I can eat! Lol. TBH. I知 a bit bothered by all this so any help would be greatly appreciated. So far it seems like I知 ok with eggs, meat and hard cheese. Cauliflower (hmm!) and loads of veg. That痴 sort of ok but, today I wanted a stir fry and was put off by the sauces in the local Supermarket as they are medium in sugar? I知 not a plain salad or stir fry bloke! I need something to spruce the taste up. So, any help/ideas would be great. Thanks everyone 👍😁👍😁

Welcome Roy!!!! So glad to have you here and asking questions.

I have used a lot of herbs and spices to make things flavorful. Here is a website that lists a lot of them and carb counts.

I have some incredible olive oil that is infused, one is garlic, one rosemary and one is jalapeo! Those really make my stirfrys tasty. Be sure you add garlic to your pan, maybe a touch of cinnamon (you would be surprised what this does to food!) make it curry with a bit of curry paste — look at this recipe for curry chicken, maybe it will give you some ideas.

Hope this helps! Keep us updated.
Better yet, start a journal and tell us about your low carb journey.

    Hi

First of All thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply to me. Right now this whole thing is confusing the heck out of me! I have my nurse tutting and shaking her head at me as I was advised to have a smoothly for breakfast by a dietitian. The smoothy has milk, a handful of mixed red berries, oats, a handful of mixed nuts, a tablespoon of chia seeds. She痴 saying the fruit has fructose which is sugar! It痴 5.8 grams? She says I should eat eggs for breakfast. So, I eat eggs and put them in my fitness pal app only to find that 2 eggs has just gone over the top on my cholesterol intake!!!! It痴 maddening!! Lol

Roy, it is so Hard to do everything our doctors and other medical people are telling us to do. And so often they do not like or do not know enough about Low Carb eating. However, there is a TON of research out there that will give you more information about cholesterol and low carb. I am not in the medical field so I cannot tell you anything that could influence what you are going to do from now on. I do know that many times, people have high cholesterol because of our genes and have to take meds no matter what, however MANY have lowered their cholesterol with the Atkins or low carb way of eating. Many have seen the general cholesterol test number go up, but that is because the Good cholesterol is high, the Bad is low.

Many of us have made this way of eating a Way Of Eating for Life. I had diabetes that is gone without carbs. Others stay on it to keep cholesterol in check.

You have to do the research and then make your decisions. Here are some good places to start

    https://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-ma...ol-long-term#1

I hope you continue to use us as a sounding board.
