Yay, so glad you had a good time with your boys. There is nothing like seeing your kids and even better when they're happy.
Colorado is so beautiful, I'm jealous..
How did it go in the airports? I hope you got to ride the little cart..

Seeing the kids doing well always makes our MOM hearts better. I was born in Pueblo, Co., grew up in New Mexico but family has been in Colorado forever. My mom and stepdad now live in Pueblo, after moving down from 8500 feet in the mountains. When we skied it was always in Co. I love the mountains. They have had a bit of bad luck in the past few years in and near C Springs with fires and floods.

I do have to say, my favorite place in the world, tho, is to be near the ocean. I think I was a sailor many times in past lives. I love the sea.

I used to do low key dirt bike back in the day LOL
Call it off road biking but none of the fast high speed stuff.
I even had an on-road license for several years....I just went ahead and got it when I was 16 since it was there. I never brought in a motorcycle for the road test so my license was provisional with someone licensed in view but I never really went on roads.

We will be gone from Massey for 2 days starting Thursday the 22nd of January till late Friday the following day (the 23rd)...

We are off to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario as my princess (Annmarie) is having a knee replacement operation and this visit is for her to see the heart specialist first...
She will most likely have the operation in late February or early March..
There will be another visit first for her pre-op about 2 weeks before surgery..

I know it is a bit early, but we are off on a mission on the 9th of February.. .... MISSION ... ?????
Well, it isn't but it will turn out to be one..
Princess has a medical appointment in North Bay on Tuesday (10th).. We will be leaving Massey on the 9th and sleeping over in North Bay as it is at least a 3 1/2 hour drive from Massey..
After her appointment, we are driving down to Orillia through the extreme snow belt where we will be spending the night..
The next day (Wednesday 11th) we get up early and we are going to Peterborough where I am half owner of a car that I am picking up as ours.. I will be driving the car back while Princess will be driving the truck back through the snow belt to North Bay where we will spend the night again..
From there, we will be coming home on the 12th to Massey................

Now, this car is a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic that our friend couldn't buy (because of credit) so we co-signed the bank loan for her.. She has since moved down to Peterborough and isn't capable of driving any more for health reasons,, so being half owner (the ownership is in both names) of the car, I will take it over for the balance owing which is very, very little.. This was the agreement in the beginning, so there isn't any grief on her part.. The car doesn't have snow tires but all season tires which is a joke up here.. I will be going through the snow belt with NO snow tires.. Just wonderful (sarcastic)....
I know the Sonic is a subcompact but I have driven it several times and have NO trouble getting in and out.. She had it for almost 4 years and the car has only 14,000 kms (about 8000 miles) on it.. She hasn't driven it in almost 6 months.. Just like new !!!
As we live in the country up here, I will be borrowing a set of "Walkie-Talkies" so we can be in contact during the trip on the road..

Now, do you see what I mean by a "mission" ???????????????/

Oh, her knee operation is closer and closer. This is a big deal. You will have a lot of prep to do for that.

Now, your "Mission, If you Choose to Accept". WOW! This is a big trip! How nice that you are getting the preverbial, (this is not a slam but what is said here in fun when selling or buying a car) this car was owned by a little, old lady who only drove it to church, car! It is a nice ending to a very heart-warming story of your helping her. Good for you for that.

Is there a way you can have chains for the snow? Is that still done? It has been a long time since I have driven in a lot of snow, but we used to stop and put chains on, when we went skiing, as we did not live where it snowed much. What a smart Idea to have the walkie talkies. I have driven in carrivans where we communicated by flashing lights when we could, and that was NOT easy!

At the end of it, you will have a newish car and had had an outing with Princess before her operation. Two good things.

Take care on all your Travels, Steve.

Chains are 100% out of the question as it is a front wheel drive.. Chains only go on rear wheel drive cars and besides I won't have time to do much more than take gas and hit the road up north through the snow belt that is off of Georgian Bay.. Snow squalls and blowing snow all the time along that stretch.. It is a 4 lane highway so it should be kept pretty clean, however white-outs are common in that area..

I still have some money to pay for the car.. It isn't fully paid off but I will get the payout from her bank and pay it out completely.. The outstanding amount is just a bit below the wholesale market value which is good..

Imagine buying a 3 1/2 year old car that has had only one oil change in its life.. it has synthetic oil that requires a change every 10,000 kms.. I will be doing all that when I get the car as well as a bumper to bumper check of absolutely everything.. I will also bring in the car to be detailed so we can start with a showroom clean car.. Then put the car away till the weather allows it to be driven on the "all season" tires till the fall at which time I will put on 4 very aggressive snow tires with studs mounted on rims..

I am getting anxious for the trip but I am not looking forward to it..

Glad all this is going on before Annmarie's knee operation when she can still help me drive the truck.. It will be about a 1200 km trip back and forth..

Ahhhh, front wheel Drive. I hope it will be a good adventure for both you and Princess. Remind us before you take off on both trips, with a note, and let us know you arrived back home safe. (Mom in me talking here!)
