    Back safe and sound...
I took the car and there wasn't a single snow flake that fell..
Did just over 500 kms for the whole trip and it took only $35.00 gas...

Most of the questions were answered however some will be answered at the pre-op which is yet to come..
Pre-op should be about 10 days before surgery..
Surgery scheduled for March 26th. first thing in the morning, probably 8:00am..

We have an appointment with an organisation locally that supplies patients with certain needs after an operation..

I have requested 2 raised toilet seats (one for each toilet).. I think 4 inches raised will be OK..
2 walkers.. One with 4 wheels and a seat (for downstairs and to go out with) and one with 2 wheels for the upstairs..
A shower seat that goes from the outside to the inside of the tub..

All this is donated but must be returned after we are finished with them..

I will be picking them up this Friday just to make sure I have them..
Will take the truck , of course.. There is NO way all that will fit into the car..
I used to live to eat......... Now I eat to live.....

All sound great, Steve. You might pickup a pair of crutches as well. I found I could get around better in the house with crutches. And a cane for later.
WE have a loan closet like that, associated with our Visiting Nurses. We can use them for as long as we need and many things get donated to them after illness or death.

For some reason, crutches are hard to master..
We both have trouble with those monsters and I have tried them and couldn't get the hang of them..
A walker seems more safe if you can't crutch...

I have 2 canes from my hip replacement ordeals....

Those loan closets are just great.. Ours is with the Elks and they have just about everything needed to loan out for nothing...
Actually they like a small deposit as they are hoping you will let them keep it upon returning the items.. It is only $10.00 per item which is cheap...

It is worth it just to not have those things in the house after the need is gone. I do have a few things in the garage. I have needed them so many times....... ugh. Oh, and I keep my handy reachers near, I use them to reach hidden cats toys and all sorts of things! LOL

I picked up the following items yesterday (Friday)....
2 raised toilet seats for our 2 toilets in the house
    One walker with 2 wheels
    One walker with 4 wheels
One chair for the bathtub that goes from out to inside..

The reason I want 2 walkers is one for the upstairs to go to the toilet at night...
One for the living area as well as going out somewhere...

I know it is still a few weeks away, but at least I have them in the house when I will need them...

This is a great idea. She can play with the walkers and the bathtub seat, see how they move, where it is hard to get around, and not be surprised later. I loved the higher toilets so much that after, I had toilets that are higher than the norm installed in our house. Not much higher, but what a difference!

We are off again on Wednesday morning very early for North Bay which is about 3 1/2 hours east of us...
Annmarie has an appointment at the hospital to have her asthma and breathing test done before her operation............
We will be sleeping over as it is way too much to drive back on the same day..
Besides we get a travel grant which pays us $100.00 to stay over as well as $150.00 for travelling there...
Believe me, the $250.00 is greatly appreciated..
Now that I have the car, the gas is ridiculously low...

Our next out of town will be for the pre-op which she doesn't have a date for yet.. It should be next week as the operation is the 26th and they want about 10 days before for the pre-op......

Then for the operation, (which is on a Thursday) we will be leaving for Sault Ste. Marie on the Wednesday and I will be staying there till Sunday when she comes home.. I will be taking the truck as it is much easier for her to get in and out of and it has loads of legroom for her to have a stool or pillow under her foot......
I used to live to eat......... Now I eat to live.....
Even a Fish wouldn't get into trouble if it would only keep its mouth shut..

    GOOD NEWS !!!!

The pre-op will NOT be done at the hospital in Sault Ste. Marie (which is 3 hours west from Massey) but will be done by teleconferencing at the hospital in Espanola (20 minutes east of massey) on Thursday at 9:00am...
That saves us a huge trip with the sleeping over and all.. It would of been a 500 kms trip compared to a 60 kms trip..
At the same time, I can make a small food order as there is where we go to food shop.....
I used to live to eat......... Now I eat to live.....

I haven't been very active in the past week or so and the reason is my wife (Annmarie) whom I call my Princess is having a knee operation on the 26th of March in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario..
Her knee has been problematic for some time so the orthopedic specialist has decided to give her a new knee..
We have been busy getting the house in shape to receive her back home with a walker among other items such as a transfer seat for the bath tub, 2 raised toilet seats and 2 walkers..
She is scheduled to return home on Sunday the 29th..
I will be driving the truck (Ford F 150) instead of our new car which is a Chevrolet Sonic because of the height of the vehicle, the fact the truck will be easier to get into and most of all, the weather.. They are calling for up to 20 cms of snow for Wednesday (our travelling day) as well as snow for the few days we will be there..
She took of me when I had both hips replaced and my shoulder replaced, so now it is my turn..

Upon our return, I will post her condition, however taking of my Princess is priority..
I used to live to eat......... Now I eat to live.....

Wow, Steve. We three will have a super collection of metal in us. I say thank you everyday, otherwise I would be in a wheelchair. I would Still be Active, but now I get to play with my grandsons on the floor. Your shoulder and her knee are comparable in recovery I hear. Yes, you will know how to comfort her in your turn.
I wish you both many good wishes in the surgery and transportation.
