    Arlene..
I think I forgot to mention that this car is a prototype meaning when it was newly introduced to the market, GM took the middle model and loaded it up with almost every option there is so the dealer can put it in the showroom to show and sell cars.. We came along just before it entered the showroom and bought it.. Because the car was supposed to be a model, GM gave the dealers a BIG reduction on the cost price using it as advertising a new product..
We got a tremendous deal on a car that we would have NEVER had so many options ordered because of the cost..
The only options not in the car are:-------- Heated seats--- Heated steering wheel --- Sun roof --- and Sirius satalite radio.....
Other than those few, it is fully fully loaded ....

    SLIGHT CHANGE OF PLANS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of leaving Massey on Monday, going to North Bay (medical appointment on Tuesday), then going to Orillia, sleeping in Orillia and then on to Peterborough on Wednesday, get the car, and up to North Bay on Wednesday, sleep there and then home......

We are leaving on Sunday morning early, driving down to Peterborough and sleeping there.. Monday morning we pick up the car (early) and drive both vehicles back up to North Bay where we will sleep.. Tuesday is the medical appointment and we will sleep in North Bay again.. Wednesday we drive home to Massey............
Thursday we will most likely drop dead from exhaustion..............

The reason we have advanced a day and made it a bit more intense is because there is a huge snow storm forecasted for Wednesday in the southern area.. I mean HUGE SNOW STORM !!! The storm should be to the south of North Bay which will make driving home easy without any worries..
They are forecasting up to 30cms of snow for Wednesday down south in the Peterborough area.. Violent winds as well.. Best to be out of the way for that one.....

Oh my goodness. Glad you are able to get to Princess's appt. Plan changed to Plan B. Glad you are both able to be flexible with your time. I just looked that all up. Holey Catfish. You do have a lot of ground to cover.

    Take care!

OK.... its now just after 9:00pm on Saturday night and I am all ready for bed and a good nights sleep.... I hope !!!
The alarm is set for 5:30am and we are hoping to get out of here by 8::00am.. We are packed but we still need breakfast, load the truck, bring along the dog with her cage and suitcase, food (I made some sandwiches so we won't have to stop for too long), close up the house and we are off.........

When i say close up the house, I mean close the power to the hot water tank, close the valves to the washing machine, lower the heat in the house, turn on some lights, and lock the front door...

We have about 8 driving hours to do tomorrow.. With a few stops, who knows how long it will take..

Must go now !!!! I will post when we return on Wednesday or Thursday...

    home !!!!! ............ Safe and sound !!!!

I will post the trip later on, but right now, I just want to sleep and sleep and sleep and have a decent meal that I will cook.... Not that restaurant junk that is 50% salt and 50% processed food with unknown edible products.....

    BRIEFLY :::::
The car runs extremely well.. It had only 17,400 kms on it and it is a 2012 which is nothing as far as usage goes..
The main problem I had was dirt.. The car was something else.. When I say dirt, I mean chips, old coffee cups from the drive through, burger wrappers, old used kleenex, and just plain dirt on the floor of the front and behind the driver in the back floor.. No shortage of small nails, picture hangers, small screws, and many other items like old rags and paper towels.......
I vacuumed and cleaned out the car upon arriving home so that problem is solved.. It was only -31c out when i spent almost one hour cleaning the inside of junk..
Forget about the outside as this is winter up here and a dirty vehicle is for everyone till spring.. Car wash is out of the question as the doors and windows freeze solid..

Coming home with the car, was a breeze.. It handled very well in a snow storm we ran into, mind you the roads were in fairly good condition.. We had "Walkie Talkies" and kept in communication all the time with my wife in the truck and me in the car.. The round trip was about 1100 kms..
Gas was something else.. We both used the same amount of gas (as a tankfull) for a distance .. The difference is a tank of gas in the truck is 109 litres while a tank of gas in the car is 45 liters, but we both used half a tank for the same distance.. WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN GAS CONSUMPTION !!! At a dollar a litre, the truck would use $60.00 for half a tank while the car took $22.00 for half a tank...

Enough for now... I will get back on here later on and continue...
We are both safe and extremely tired after 4 days of the "mission".......

Gas consumption is really a concern now. My daughter is looking for a small, efficient car. She has an older Honda and needs a new one, a family car. There are a lot out there now, that get a lot better than mine does!

I am very happy to hear you both made it back safely. Was Princess's doc appt routine--all still a go on a new knee?

    Arlene..
The medical appointment was to have her asthma checked out before her operation.. She will be going back on the 11th of March for further tests in the hospital, but so far, she was diagnosed as "mild to moderate" asthma... The doctor gave her a puffer (Simbcort) [spelling??] which should control her problem..

So far, all is a go for the 26th of March for the "new knee" which will be done in Sault Ste. Marie......

We are off again to Sault Ste. Marie to see Annmarie's orthopedic doctor for a consultation before the operation..
He insists on doing this to explain what is going to happen, answer any questions, and make plans for after the operation for physio therapy.....
Her appointment is on Monday the 2nd at noon.. We will go to the Sault on Sunday, sleep over, go to the appointment and then drive home.. it is way too far to do all that in one day..
Besides we get a Northern Ontario Medical Travel Grant to go to see a specialist as we don't have any in our village.. This travel grant is sponsored by the Ontario Government and it pays us to travel out of town, eat 2 good meals, and sleep over in a respectable hotel (I use the Comfort Inn) of our choice.. The total amount is about $250.00 which is great.......

I am totally debating whether to take the truck or the car.. They are forecasting just a few flurries for Sunday, however who knows what that could end up being....
The truck takes 3 times more gas than the car but it is still a truck with the security of a 4X4 during bad weather..

It sounds like she has a doctor who really cares for what happens to her after. That is important. Gas vs safety if there is a storm? Hmmm, I would rather spend a bit more on gas this time of year.

Have a very safe trip, Steve and Annmarie.

Looks like the weather isn't going to be bad at all for sunday.. I am going to go by car not to save a few dollars of gas, but to try it out for the first time on a trip..

Our luggage, our items, a medium size cooler, and all the items for the dog including a folding cage....
Interesting to see where I will be able to put all those items.......

Now, where will I put the dog ?????
How about in the glove box ?????? LOL
