Red face NOOB: Please help me :)

This will be my first ever attempt at eating a low carb diet. This will also be my first diet ever. I am not overweight by any means and have no medical condition. I am going to another city for 3 weeks and want to reveal my 6pack with a little weightloss to surprise my girlfriend when I return.

I have been reading about entering kenosis but am having trouble keeping the carbs of my diet low enough to enter it and when I am low enough my calorie count isn't high enough.

    This is my menu:

    #1: 3 slices of bacon, 3 large eggs, 2oz of cheddar cheese - 375 cals - ~3.5g carbs
    #2: protein shake, 1oz peanuts - 295cals - 6g carbs
    #3: 50g cheddar cheese - 200 cals - 1g carbs
    #4: 4oz chicken breast, 50g cheddar cheese, 1oz peanuts - 480 cals - 6g carbs
    #5: 125g cottage cheese - 100cals - 5g carbs
    #6: protein shake - 125cals - 1g carbs

    Total calorie count: 1575
    Total carb count: 22.5

I am 22, 5'11, 173lbs. I don't believe this would be sufficient? Any critisism and/or comments would be appreciated.. I am also aware that I have no fruit and vegetables.. Any way I can add them and still be able to enter into a kenotic state?

    Thank you.

i thought the forum was for 'lowcarb' eaters....thats why im here anyway (never followed atkins and never will ).

hi jerrycurls ,visible abs in 3 weeks is a big ask....depending on current bf% obv. first things first...whats your maintenance cals and how much are u under them by?

what keto diet you doing? keto diets are usually a macro 65/30/5 fat/pro/carb these ratios need to be split into EACH MEAL...so protein shakes are useless imo as every 50g (200cal) you'll need 50g of fat (450cal) in the same meal, cool it on the peanuts aswell. the easiest way to figure out what you need is take your daily calorie requirement (in your case looks like 1500 cal?) divide it by how many meals your planning on eating (6 is too many for only 1500cal imo) so leats say 4 meals/1500cals = 375cals per meal, thats 29g fat & 29g protein EVERY MEAL x4 (1508cals and throw is some green leave vegies in there).

    whats your training like....

Yes I'm aware its a big task but I'm going to try to accomplish it. My body fat was at 11% last time I was tested and the top 4 abs are visible but im having trouble losing the fat around the bottom abs enough to see them clearly.

I am designing my diet around http://www.tomgartman.net/workouts/C...Rapid_Diet.pdf.

I currently do heavy weightlifting 3 times a week and abs every second day. Cardio is nearly in-existant but I will be starting it while I'm away for about 30 mins of interval run/walking

Edit: and thank-you aradasky, I'll look into those links

    1. ditch the peanuts - try macadamias - much better for you.

An you are doing Atkins, you know, you just may not be calling it that LOL! You'll find it hard to drop any furthr fat, you are very lean already. But eating low carb will eventually do it.

I was hoping to hit 2k.. I'm not sure if the lack of calories would effect me that much but I figured I'd post my concern here where people are more experienced in this type of dieting.

Here is an updated diet plan.. Please criticize.

looks much better mate you'll see your bottom abs about 8-10% so your not far off...say 9-12lb (bodyfat) to lose id say. so taking your height, current weight, age and your training split into account your looking for between 1500-1700 cal (a day) to be losing 3lb a week. id say thats doable! visible abs are purely a bf%.

    good luck bud.

hi jo, dr atkins did not invent low carb or ketogenic diets...he just put step by step instructions on 1 while screaming allot of bullsh*t about carbs lol...one of my favorites - "carbohydrates are the very food that make you fat".

i use keto while dieting for the muscle preserving & appetite suppressing, moderate carbs, moderate protein & 20% fat when im not cutting fat for the anabolic affects of insulin spikes and recovery/energy.

    why do u follow atkins?

In the end, we follow whatever plan works best for us. For me, insulin sensitive as I am, I needed a low carb WOE to get me out of type 2 diabetes. If I did what you do, I would be io diabetes meds., maybe insulin. BUT that is me, you are doing very well for you and I am glad to see that you can help Jerry.

For me, Atkins or other low carb, high fat diets (ways of eating) make sense.
