I'm new here so hello everyone.
I have a few questions to ask about Atkins and low carb diets. Firstly I wouldn't say I'm strictly on the Atkins diet as I have managed to cut most foods out such as crisps, chips, potatoes in general (apart from the occasional small amount) all sugary foods, bread, pastry, etc, however I like my curries and chillies too much and can't find a reasonable alternative to rice (yes I've tried the cauliflour rice) so I do allow myself 50g of basmati rice every few days. I've lost about 8 pounds in three weeks the last time I weighed myself, so I kind of call it the restriction diet because of the foods I restrict myself to.
My first question is: How many carbs are removed from rice by rinsing it and soaking it in water, and then pouring boiling water over it once it's cooked?
And why can't you have gravy on the Atkins diet? One or two cubes of OXO gravy doesn't have many carbs in it, maybe because it's more salt based I don't know? Anyway I allow myself a bit of gravy in certain foods.
