    Helen - the return

    HI everyone

Been lurking on and off - been falling off the wagon on and off - but I've been learning about me and now ready to get back to this WOE.

Each time I've done this way of eating it has made me ill. So much so that I've had to give up and recover. Now I know why - Im fairly dairy intolerant and allergic to eggs plus, I'm away from home a lot and it's sometimes tough when your host has proudly provided a meal which is incompatible (despite them asking what you can't eat lol).

So I'm now in more control and armed with greater knowledge & I've just stocked up on the right foods! Yay!

Weighed in today at 104.5 kgs

    So onwards and downwards!

It's lovely to see some old friends as well

Welcome back! I too have come and go with this way of eating. But I am back for good!! Who says you have to eat eggs for breakfast? You can eat whatever you want!! All you really have to do is eat protein and carb for each meal. Meat/Chicken/Fish (any protein) and a carb (a good carb=veggies!). Have steak and green beans. Or Chicken and brocolli! I have lost 34 pounds by eating this way. And I eat till Im satisfied!! I am happy eating this way. I try and stay focused on the prize. And the prize is? Me!! Good luck and stay focused cause your worth it!

So good to meet you Spirit-Helen. One of my favorite breakfasts is a good hamburger patty with mustard. Yum, my mouth is watering now..... I am glad you figured out what you need to stay healthy.

I so love eggs as well lol! Oh well - I've got used to not having them now. I'm determined to lose weight and now I know what was making me ill each time, it should be better.

    Good to be back

Everything is great thanks Tril. Another busy year ahead with lots of travel but life is excellent. My son is doing really well. He taught himself the piano and is a natural, so he wants to study music. Jac is great too. How's the house? Is it all finished now?

New scales just arrived! I've been using a kg scale which is good - but I still think in stones and lbs. It's supposed to be very accurate no matter what surface it is on - we'll see

Got on the new scale today. It's accurate but I'm not used to counting all the little marks. The old one had a big bright digital panel. It looks Like I'm now either 103kg or 16st 3lbs. ish or 227lbs. I'm saying ish as I'm getting used to it but it's definitely moved downwards. Yay!

Not doing so well the last couple of days. I'm on plan but feeling all the old symptoms of when my body rebels. I thought I had it sussed. I'll give it a few more days and then rethink if it doesn't improve. the only trouble is, this is the only weight loss program I have really liked and it does really work when I stick to it! Fingers crossed

Helen... while you wait for your body to start producing that enzyme you need to use ketones for energy, there ARE some things you can do to help yourself feel better. If you have a headache, take an OTC product for it. If you've cut back on caffeine and that's making you feel worse, then wait until after Induction to ditch the coffee. Dehydration makes you feel lethargic, gives you a headache, makes digestion (and elimination) more difficult, causes fatigue, etc. Up your water intake to counter the dehyrating effects of glycogen depletion. Along with all that water loss goes your electrolytes... replenish them with a cup of real meat broth morning and night. Are you taking the recommended supplements? This will also help you maintain your levels of calcium, potassium and magnesium. Electrolytes are necessary for proper muscle function... which effects nearly every process in your body. Exercise will hurry up the process of switching to ketosis by using up the stored glycogen faster. I'm talking about gentle walks, NOT a bootcamp workout! LOL

Remember... this stage/feeling is temporary so long as you stick it out!!! If you give in to it and eat something to make yourself feel better (temporarily) it only prolongs the process and increases the risk of failure. The worst day is usually day 3. By day 5 you should start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there. It WILL go away and you will feel AMAZING!!!

Thanks Tril. Yes I'm on the supplements, minerals etc and floating away with water. the Caffeine is the same as before as I'd got that right down. Basically, I get the runs in very bad way each time. I've only got through more than a month by taking immodium daily. If I don't, I get too weak and ill. I'm hoping that having cut out the foods I've identified as a problem, this will stop. I've tried increasing fibre with Psyllium but that makes it worse. I'm seeing how it goes this weekend but it's exhausting! I'm on day 5 now and things are getting worse.
