    Kim's Excellent Adventure...Atkin's Recommitment Ceremony !

    Starting again...

Restared in November. I lost 4-5 pounds in a month. For me, that is great! Along with weight I'd lost from using another 'weight losss' program. Problem is, I've gained it back except for a few pounds. In a two week period. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and had a good 2 week spell with a lot of pain. I just got over a round with the flu. And our weather has been horrid. Nothing but rain and/or humidity for 2 weeks. I feel like a swollen tick! When we had a 2 day respite from it, I dropped 2 over night. But, the rain came again. I'm going up in 2 pound increments and staying.. Why not a pound? It is really almost impossible to gain what I have in such a short time. Not with what I've eaten. But I will write down EVERY single piece of food that enter's this mouth starting today. I've drained our city's water supply. Drink water like a fish.

Well...here I am again. Weighed in, but didn't want to throw in the towel. Just depressed as heck. I had done well throughout the holiday's. I'd given up Atkin's Bar's because I believe they do cause a stall for me, I think. I've probably put on 2 pound's actual weight. But the other 3..who know's where it came from?

If anyone would like to join me on my 'adventure' feel free to come a long! I'm going to be posting on how I'm doing just to keep track of myself! LOL Whatever it takes!

    I wish everyone a happy 2012 in all area's of your live's!

    Kim

203/203/160..... today Two weeks ago 198 lbs.

You are fighting several things at once. You are eating the right things and eventually your body will realize what it needs to do and will start loosing. Keep it up!! You will persevere.

Thank you! You are a great inspiration to many of us! And of course, other's on this board who are the friendliest, and most helpful, of any group I've been associated with.

I have Diabetes 2 also. And it has CURED the systemic yeast problem I had all over my body. That is huge. I've battled it for two years, yet no doctor could figure out a rememdy. Scratching my head, here! So, I don't think I'm eating huge amount of carbs. But more than I probably should have.

Don't know when this weather will break. But I will keep doing the healthy way for me to eat~ Hopefully, I start watching the pounds drop. At some point they will!

Take care and have a wonderful New Year!

New Year's Day 2012.. Last night, celebrated with turkey, ham, summer sausage, blk olives with mayo. And..several glasses of champagne! Meat must have been salty and weather is still humid, but supposed to be dropping temp., as the day goes on. So wedding ring was way too tight and that does mean a lot of water retention for me.

Stayed the same weight today..which is too much but better than it could have been with all of the salty food last night and champagne.

Brunch today: cheese, blk olives, turkey, with mayo. AND, ton's of water for the day!

Dinner: baked chicken in beer with LOTS of garlic, bay leaves, seasoned pepper. cooked with potatoes (for my dh) and turnips. it was delcious!!

    following on a long leash.

    Hi Kim,

Hang in there! you are doing great, I think the battle for all of is is not the weight as much as the will - to decide what foods we choose to eat and then following through with the plan. I don't really understand the hows and whens of my body and when it wants to add or substract pounds. Its kind of like a puppy following on a very long leash. But if i keep "eating right" eventually it has to follow.

    take care

    SleepyD,

I agree with you! My will power is something I have to keep in check 24/7. It is definitely one of the hardest parts for me.

You are right.. Eventually it has to follow. It did just a month ago, and I don't know what changed, but I know I can lose again, and make it to my goal. No matter how long. At least I dropped a 1/4 pound from yesterday. Not much, but better than nothing!

    Have a good day!

It is Tuesday.. Not a good start. I weighed this morning and had GAINED 3 pounds from last night. I am sure it's water weight, but this is now 8 pounds in 6 weeks. I had summer sausage for lunch and some pepper jack cheese for lunch, yesterday. I drank even more water than usual. I drink water all thru the day and evening. I thought it would have flushed out any water retention. Tired of this. I had chicken for dinner with some veggies and dang it, a Atkin's Bar.

Started pushing water @ 6 am this morning. Will have breakfast soon. Poached eggs, butter, and some cheddar cheese. Just hoping and praying I have a sudden weight loss sometime soon. Not another gain.

I am not able to due heavy workouts, but told my friend I would take a Tai Chi class with her starting end of January. Excited about this!

Here's to a day where the water loosen's up!

It is not unusual for us to stall so don't fret. You are eating right and it will come. Water retention is not a bad thing. Actually, we need it. I found that if I get depleted that I get cramps at night so I am upping my salt intake. One thing I suggest is that you only weigh yourself once a week so the everyday water is not so evident or weigh everyday but then take the average of the 7 days for your weight. Remember, the scale is known to lie to us about weight loss. Some people do not width at all but watch clothes fitting and judge.

Thank's Arlene. I've had six pound of water weight come on in such a short period of time. My clothe's are tighter than 3 weeks ago, but a tad looser than end of last week.

I really am a scale addict! It would be helpful for me to stay off it every day! I truly appreciate your support.

Weigth bouncing up and down.. Mostly up. I've eaten well. I tried on clothes that I was able to fit in again, 3 weeks ago. They are tight again with sides bulging. So depressed. Not doing anything different than I had been when I was successful. Every day is just another day of try, try again. If I could see results, I would be ok. Seeing as everything, even inches lost is going to heck in a hand basket, I just don't know what to do. Guess I'll see what tomorrow brings. I just keep thinking of where I was 4-6 weeks ago and can't believe it all changed so quickly. Got a bad case of the 'blue uglies'..

If you'd like to post a detailed menu of what you're eating, I (and others, I'm sure) would be more than willing to look it over and see if there's something you're doing "wrong". It might be a simple fix...

If you DO post one, include amounts of what you're eating, please. And what you're drinking!

    Thanks Tril.

    Saturday:

Brunch: Wendy's Ceaser Salad with my own salad dressing (2 carbs)

Snack: broccoli (sp), cauliflower, raw with dip (1 carb) a few pieces of each. 2 string cheese

Dinner: The above, Wendy's salad, again; with 2 Wendy's small hamburger's no bun

Snack: 4 oz. pepper jack cheese. 1/3 Atkin's Advantage bar.

    Water: 85 oz. water

Sunday ( my fibromyagia, osteoarthritis and chronic fatigue are bad at this time. my sleep pattern is off. i fell asleep @ 5 am today til 1 pm. Not feeling well.)

Dinner: 2 chicken breast halves (skinless) baked with a whole cooked, small turnip and small cooked onion.

Water: 64 oz plus so far.

My finger's are swollen, I could not get my wedding band on. I feel as if, at least 3 of the pounds I've gained is water retention. I know I do go over the 4 oz cheese on some days.

I will post my full menu tomorrow. Had gained 6 pounds of water last weekend, and it was all off in the next two days. Now I'm back up today. I ALWAYS drink at least 64or 96 oz of water a day.

    Thanks again.. Kim

I'm wondering where you got some of your carb counts... like the Wendy's salad. Was that their spicy chicken caesar salad? The cheese also has carbs... 1g per oz. Only the really hard aged cheddars are low enough to count them as zero. The lactose is where the carbs come from.

Cooked, mashed turnip has about 13ng carb per cup... that's about all of the carbs you need from vegetables per day.

I think maybe you're eating more carbs than you realize.

Also, looking at your menu, it's very high in sodium... I can easily see why you're retaining fluid!

    I appreciate your input Tril.

I checked out Wendy's website. I had the Cobb Salad... a TB of bleu cheese crumbles, quarter of a hard boiled egg. One piece of bacon. The chicken is grilled. I'd read on Atkin's Dot Com. Board, they suggested if you ate out. Too much in way of veggies and salty hamburger patties. Today has been the chicken and no more than a cup of cooked turnips. I have the New Atkin's Comprehensive Carb Counter which counted boiled cubed turnips as 2.3 net carbs for 1/2 cups.

Anyway, Just and FYI regarding Wendy's Salad in case anyone else should have questions:

    Large BLT Cobb Salad:

Cal. 450 Fat 25 gm. Carbs 9 Protien. 46 gm.

This is why I usually don't eat much in the way of fast foods. Dinner home cooked tonight. Thank you for helping me see area's I've sabotoged myself. Now I can pay more attention again, and check myself more often!

Fast foods are land mines... sometimes they're ok, other times you get nailed. But you can always count on too much sodium. I try not to eat out unless I HAVE to. Once a week I take my mother out for the day (errands, dr appt, etc). She buys me lunch. I have the same thing every time... broiled haddock and the veggie of the day. I love it... and it seems to work ok. When you find something that works, stick with it. LOL
