First, welcome.
Second, congratulation on the losing 9 pounds.
Third: Take a breath.
Atkins is a long process. So do not expect to loss the same amount every day.
Generally, people lose 10% of the weight they want to lose in the first weeks. This is you burning through your glycogen reserves.
Then you will slow to something between 0.5-2% of your total weight per week. Many people fall at the lower end of this rate. You will not always go down every week. You may go do everything right and go up. Women often have issues with water retention ( and weight gain/non-lose ).
Atkins in a way of eating (WOE). You should be thinking "I am doing this for the rest of my life". And there are lots of steps to cover.
So be patient. Work the plan.
Good advice:
- Get the book and read it a couple of times. It is short.
- Plan your meals in advance. Many people plan a week of meals.
- Make sure you are following the plan: 20 ng carbs, vegetables, lots of water, 1500-1800 calories per day, etc
- Eat regularly -- at least ever 5 hours.
- Buy snacks -- extra cheese or sliced meat for eating when you are hungry. I would suggest making extra lunch style food for snacks.
- Plan for eating while out: take your own food; read the menus in advance to see if you can have it, do not settle for the least bad item.
