    blueys journey

    Hi to all,
Been on a low carb diet since mid September
with a few hick ups a long the way ..
but intend to get to my goal weight ...

    my height is 182 cm
my weight when starting out was 109 kg
my goal weight is 84 kg
    my current weight is 100.7

I have been hovering above the 100 mark for a few weeks now
and its proving to be a real barrier for me..
I intend to update my journey about once a week and talk about how things are working out.
I have no problem with exercising and have a walking/running routine of about 30 mins 4/5 times a week
walk on hard surface and run on the beach (the dog loves it..)
followed by 15 or so mins weight training upper body mostly
    bench press shoulders back etc.
I find it doesn't tire me too much if I'm a little flat I'll walk more than run
also swap the weights with a bit of swimming here and there.

I have a real sweet tooth and big appetite so I'm looking at ways to accommodate them and still get to where i want to be at..
am playing around with sugar free jellies, custards ..

Welcome. It sounds like you are doing well. It will be good to get to know you here and watch your progress.

    Thanks for the hello's.
Had a great week I decided to go on the induction for 5 days to break through the 100 barrier.....
Weighed in this morning at 99.5 feeling damn good about it ,
I needed the extra effort to break through and the induction done it ..
My first Day on induction I was a little tired and cranky, Caffeine withdrawls mostly I think
my wife had enough of me by nightfall.
But after the second day I had a lot of energy and felt great
    plain sailing after that ..
No problem exercising or sticking to the 20 gm Carbs.
thanks for the chess pies idea I'm going to experiment with it...

Had a bit of a blowout over the weekend, a good friends sons christening huge variety of all the foods to be avoided on low carb, finished off with a lrg blueberrie muffin on the drive home ..
The up side to this is after pigging out most of the afternoon non stop I was not craving the carb overload and didn't care for the full to the gills effects.
So happy to be back to the low carb way
I did get a few your looking well comments yesterday which is none too bad ...

My weekly weigh in, back the other side of the fence 101.1kg
OK not the end of the world but I do get the feeling of one step forward two steps back....
I've been loosening my carb restriction in the form of sweet foods, cant get past my sweet tooth..
and cut back on exercising due to a cold and feeling the need for sleep ins over the last few days.
I went for a run/walk today 50 mins really enjoyed it, felt the benefit of taking the break.
I'm wondering about the psychological aspects to being of a certain weight, our minds being comfortable with an extra few kgs on the frame ...
Or maybe its the discipline or lack of it in my case....

    hi,
why not freeze some diet soda into lollypops or have some whipped cream with coco powder and splenda, you sweet craving would be satisfied and you are not upsetting your l/c regime.
its great that your managing to run/walk even though its cold and hibernation time! i cant get myself out at all lately, its been 80mile an hour winds and minus 3 here so the thought of going out is just too much for me.
give the lollys a go and see how you get on.

ooh how i would love a bit of sunshine, never mind only another 7 months before Scotland receives a few rays of it.
being active is much easier when the weather is warm, i just cant face the gym.
Bluey, Ireland may be colder and wetter but its ever so nice, i have never been to Australia so cant really compare the two but its sounds warm...i want some!
your doing great with the weight loss, keep at it!

My weekly weigh in 100.8 k,
still the wrong side of the 100 but I'll take the 300gm as a small step in the right direction.
I enjoy the low carb regime but still find it hard not over eating I have a big appetite and when I get into the mood I could graze all day that's my problem I guess.
I started reading a book called The Gabriel Method interesting so far (The whys of our eating habits)....
Hopefully I'll break the 100 barrier again next week ...I intend too...
Then Christmas well that's another story

i was the same, i had a huge appetite and could out eat my husband!. are you eating enough fat? thats what broke my huge portion habit, i always had fattier meats (belly of pork) and fish (mackerel) and used to put mayo on top (within reason). i couldnt physically overeat, the fat satisfied me so much i just couldnt put another thing in my mouth. i dont eat all the mayo now though as my appetite has decreased naturally. I also used to keep some billtong for a protien snack dipped in mustard.
