That's exactly why I diet/exercise, too! So I can continue to do the things I love. I'm SO motivated watching people my age fail physically. When I see someone who CAN'T do, it makes me want to work hard so I CAN do. It's scary as heck when your peers are sickly... weak... unhealthy... couch potatoes.

Exactly right, Tril! I want it be strong for many years to come. I ah e had to ever come having both my hips and knees replaced and my back fused die to arthritis and know that to stay strong, I Have to exercise. Too many don't and can't walk any where any more.
I am Arlene and Dr Mary Vernon says it best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaquSijXJkQ for me. I used to stand under my plum tree waiting for the fruit to ripen and fall, now I stand near a coconut tree.

    Hello All,
I haven't posted here in a while, I've been kind of busy. I was still on low carb until a few days ago. Now I've upped my carbs a little (whole grains and some fruit) and am cutting out some fat. You can't eat both carbs and fat, right? I just got a little discouraged because I AM STILL STALLED. After 3 months. I am determined to lose weight! The diet part I think I have more or less under control. I have gotten used to cooking veggies every day for one meal and a salad for the other meal. And breakfast is flax bread and an egg (so that's 2 eggs). I have to admit I wasn't counting carbs or calories lately (past 2 months) but I'm pretty sure I was doing ok. Now I'm going to count calories also. I don't want to be hungry so I'm going for around 1500. As far as exercise, I'm not doing it on a daily basis, but I do some moving around, bring firewood up to the house (up a flight of stairs), and I have started a pilates class once a week. Once the weather is better I plan on doing plenty of walking (my favorite). So that's about it. Any suggestions, ideas?

Ninasan, ARGH!!!! I am glad you are still here and trying, but so disappointing.

Go here and scroll down to the interview with Dr Mary Vernon. There is grreat information about LC high fat. http://www.dietdoctor.com/category/weight-loss

http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/ this is another site with more information.

I think 1500 to 1700 is a good number for calories. That is what I am doing now.

I do hope you keep coming back and let us know how you are doing and feel.

    He y everyone!!

I'm still at it! There's been some cheat days, (I've been stressed) changed things around a bit, I had been on induction for 3 months and I was stalled.
But I'm happy to report that it hasn't messed things up, on the contrary. I haven't gained, I've lost!! Not much, mind you, but another kilo down! So i've gone back to induction (but I sometimes eat peanuts) I know macadamias are better, but really the're not allowed on induction either. Bu t i gotta eat something (snack) right?

Anyway, I'm still at it, trying to walk an hour every day, and hpoing that by this summer I will reach my goal. But if not, I know what to do now to lose or maintain, even if it's slowly.

By the way, I noticed that all of Bluehex's posts are gone and I've read some comments about "her loss". Can someone please tell me what happened?

HI Ninasan! So good to see you are still moving down the good food road! Every little bit that is lost and not gained is a celebration. I have not had a peanut since I started this but do love my macadamias!

We do miss BlueHex. She added a lot to the forum. There was a slight disagreement here on the forum and she decided her life was taking a turn elsewhere. She is still very dedicated to the LC lifestyle but will not be here anymore.

    Hi Allie!
I't's nice to meet you too! I've read a lot of your posts around the forum so I feel like I know you already.
    You crack me up!
Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know, that sometimes I'm not talkative, but I DO read the threads and I'm glad to be here. You've got a great support group going. I wish you all the best in your low carb lifestyle and in everything!
I'ts just that right now I'm kinda going through some rough stuff, so I have to really focus on my low carb.
I DO love to help people if I can. But there are SO many people here who are full of low carb knowledge and are helping others, including me!
I receive so many tips and information that has helped me a lot. I have to say that since I became a member here, I have realized that low carb is more than just a diet, it's a LIFESTYLE and a great one at that. It's true, when I'm in ketosis, how much energy I have and how great I feel!
So, even if I don't post a lot, I just want you to know I'm here READING and support ALL OF YOU!
    Have a great day everyone!

Excellent to know Ninasan and do send us a word when you can and certainly when you need our support. As you know we're always here! Glad you find some humor in my posts.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with "stuff" It always makes things more challenging doesn't it. But stuff will pass and better things will come AND bad fat will go! It will! It will! It will!

Good luck and all the best!!

Well, Easter has passed and visitors are gone, had a lovely time, but I do better with a routine, even though I always hated anything routine! How's that! So even though I only cheated a tiny tiny bit ( I have already become used to low carb and feel better, less hungry) Just a slight cheat can make you crave stuff!

Haven't been exercising lately, I've got to get back to my walks, you know how the holidays are...

But all in all, I'm hanging in there, although the weight loss is REALLY slow. But then, why the rush? It's better slow, right? I'm happy to have lost some weight, I feel better physically and emotionally. I'm not discouraged, I have accepted that I go more slowly, and the food is great, so....

"Stuff" is better, Im working on fixing things, and this helps also. Thanks for the positivity, Allie. You are SO right about that. It makes a world of difference. But luckily, I AM a positive thinker, always have been. I can see you are too!

Have a great low carb day everyone!

Ha Ha......I'm not always so positive Ninasan LOL

Good to hear from you and that things are getting better. Holidays always sort of mess things up a bit. Even poor Cheryl who NEVER has gained an ounce on her weigh ins had a bad week for the first time. I just go down then back up a little, then down, then back up a little. It's very annoying but at least I'm still heading down gradually.

Get back to your rocks and your routine and things will be great!!

    Hello everyone!

I'm still here, going at it, not losing much but at least I'm not gaining!

I've decided that instead of a weekly weigh-in, I'm gonna do a monthly just after TOM. That way I'll see more progress. Kind of like Primal, right? But I don't think I could go with no dairy. I love my cheese!

    Have a great day all!

Ninasan, you said it the best way it can be said. Not losing much but at least you are not gaining! Wonderful!!!! And I agree with your monthly weigh in. As long as you are on plan it will not be a problem. If you do see a problem, then you still can address it. I know about dairy and primal. I am working very hard to get my carbs up to 30 a day.

Hope you continue to do as you have been, losing. Good for you!
