    11/4/11 - Day 2

    My info for today:
    Current weight: 214.6
    Desired weight: 165

Yesterday I had half a cup of oatmeal with butter on top (19g carb) for breakfast, 3 chicken legs for lunch, a small apple for snack, and hot and sour soup for dinner.

I know I was high on the carb side with the apple, and the soup probably had sugar in it, but I figure it wasn't bad for my first day :/

    Also coulda drank more water.

Oh, and I do so heartedly recommend the low carb diets. I am on Atkins. I have tried the low calorie, low fat, high carb diets and have never felt like this before. I was alsway hungry, lost weight but could not wait to get off and eat again. Now I am eating, and eating and eating....eggs and bacon for breakfast, ham for lunch and beef for dinner and all sorts of veges with butter. No cereal, no wheat at all and no fruit. I will start adding them in slowly and some I will never have again, or rarely, because I now know they raise my glucose. Raised glucose = diabetes and fat storage. If you have questions, just ask away....

Welcome!! I am also on Atkins and love it. I did take the time to read the books and educate myself because otherwise its a recipe for frustration and ultimately feeling like a failure (been there too many times to count). Even though I am only 6 weeks in my family and I are LOVING it.

I recommend the new atkins book and also the book by the author Taubes titled Why we are fat. You can also search Taubes on YouTube and find a 90 or so minute presentation he did summarizing the book.

Again welcome an this is just the beginning of lifelong changes for the better.

    Hi Bluehex and Aradasky,

I actually read the book years ago, and I did do it one time perfectly and correctly, and I easily lost lots of weight, of course. I kind of wanted to "ease into" it this time. I know proper induction doesn't work that way, but I guess that's my little tweak :/ I was definitely more atkins-proper yesterday though! I still had the oatmeal for breakfast but nothing but beef, bacon, chicken, and cheese the rest of the day. I was worried that I ate a little too much, but I saw that I lost a pound when I weighed myself today!!! Yay!!!!!!

Hi, Blondre! Thanks so much! I WILL purchase the NEW Atkins book today. And I will definitely look into Taubes!

Again, thank you ALL so much for your honesty and your help! Knowing that people are replying to my posts really makes me feel like I'm not doing this alone and that's huge. Even just knowing people are READING my posts makes me feel that way!!!

I used to have oatmeal for every breakfast with yougurt. I loved it. BUT after exercise, about two hours later, I was STARVING! My hubby had a BIG bowl of cereal with fruit and milk every morning. Now I fix us both bacon and eggs, I add asparagus or some other vege to my eggs, cheese to his, and we don't get hungry until about 5 or more hours later. It is a HUGE difference in what the oats and wheat do in your body vs the meat and eggs. If you hate eggs, thre are other suggestions for breakfast. I have had an Angus Beef patty with mustard for breakfast and it was YUMMY! You will get a lot of info from the book, I suggest you read it several times, but turn to the induction menues and follow them for two week. See how different you feel.

    Hello ladies,

Bluehex, what you said about how at my weight I'm probably insulin resistant was a big wake up call, I feel like it slapped me awake :/ You forget how big you are cause you're so used to being that weight, I guess, until someone says something like that. I needed that

Aradasky, I took the oatmeal out yesterday, had eggs instead. 3 eggs, two with yolks. Then I had a hamburger with lettuce, and then 3 small chicken legs and some clear broth chicken soup, and 3 little turkey meatballs my brother made. I'm down almost 1.5 pound since yesterday

Will go purchase new Atkins book today when it stops raining, then I'll print out some induction recipes from the Atkins site.

Thank you both and have a good day/night

    Rita

Thanks Aradasky!!!! LMAO @ Grab some meat!!!!!! Oh I sure did. LOL!

    Yesterday:

Breakfast: 3 eggs, 2 with the yolk.
Lunch: Gigantic burger with lettuce and tomato
    Dinner: Spicy chicken sausage
2nd dinner (lol): tuna with 1 tbs of mayo and chives

Had almost exactly 64oz water. Need more veg, I suppose.

Ok, I will soon stop the daily weighing as Dr. Atkins says doing so once a week is best. I just wanted to do it everyday in the beginning as I get acclimated and whatnot.

I hope you all have a great day!

This is very good news. I am glad you Re seeing a difference. Te best thing for you to do in the vy beginning is eat Thea allowed foods, in the way described in the book. I had one serving of veges with every meal, cut up asparagus in my eggs, broccoli with my chicken at lunch and a salad or vege with dinner. This way you will get enough to eat and get your veges in. Good luck! The menus at the back of the book have good ideas for snacks, too.

And weighing in the beginning is fun! Once a week is a good way to do it,though. You will slow down the weight loss and it will show more at once a week.

Breakfast: 3 egg omelette (2 yolks) with mushrooms and chives
Lunch: Big burger with lettuce onion tomato mustard and mayo
Dinner: grilled chicken breast with tomato and lettuce and mayo

Hi Aradasky! Thank you so much!
Yes, Dr. Atkins says too that you should have a little bit of veg with every meal cause a big one-time splurge might cause your blood sugar to go crazy. And I'm finally realizing and understanding how extremely carb-sensitive I am, because like bluehex mentioned with my weight being as high as it is I'm insulin resistant.

Weighing is DEFINITELY fun right now! I'm trying to be good here and discipline myself with it...I'm gonna try to tell myself to start slowing down the weighing starting next week. Like to maybe 3 times a week then eventually once a week.

Also wanted to share some happy observations with everyone: I LOVE how my ravenous appetite has calmed down!!! This is why I love low-carb diets, and why this is the best one. I'm never hungry now, and when I eat I'm DEEPLY satisfied WITHOUT feeling FULL and disgusting. Sorry for the tmi, but I'm also not passing gas out of any of my orifices anymore (lol), and I feel light and my mood has improved. Bless your soul, Dr. Atkins.

Thanks again and have a great day and happy eating!!!

    Desired weight 165

    Yesterday's:

Breakfast: 3 eggs (2 yolk), 1 chicken sausage
Lunch: one chicken breast with skin on
Dinner: grilled chicken breast sandwich with lettuce tomato and mayo
2nd dinner: 3 egg frittata (1 yolk) with a lots of parsley )it was mostly parsley)

1 decaf herbal tea, 60oz water

I'm wondering why the hell I've gone up .2 lb, but then again it's probably normal fluctuation and this is the reason why we're advised not to weigh daily. Also could be that I'm gaining muscle from the workouts I started this week.

    Have a good day, all
