    Stalls after months of progress

I am looking for ideas on undoing a stall after 6 months of loses.

Basic demographics: male, 57, 6', started weight 265, current weight 220, goal 175, OWL atkins, exercise: basically zero at this point.

I am at about 50 ng carbs (maybe higher) per day right now. I must admit, I have not been very religious in counting carbs. I cannot say exactly what my daily numbers are. My diet has been pretty much the same for almost 3 months.

I am not sure if there is a difference when you stall or if any time has the same solution. I have had good lose for about 6 months. Now basically a one month stall.

Should I be concerned? Should I just continue?

Quite interested in hearing from people who have been doing LC/Atkins for a long time.

Hi Mike, i see this as a "nice problem to have" - half the weight is gone and not coming back - so congrats. Talk to me five months from now and see if i do that well.

I've been experimenting with the diet and what happens if . . . .

One very preliminary result for me might be that the green tea extract matters. I was losing more than a pound a day a week ago and kinda went "whoa" and stopped the GTE. Afaik, green tea extract is really good for us anyways if you haven't tried it.

My weight was always fluctating seasonally - maybe the "tide" has come in for you .

I do not qualify as a long termer but from what I've read you might try tweaking what you are doing. Push carbs up a bit or down a bit. Maybe do a fat fast for a day or two. Try raising or lowering your calories a bit.

Scottie Mike, you say you aren't counting your carbs anymore, however you have not changed what you eat for several months. I do not have the book right here in front of me, but I think it says to go back down a level if u stall, so maybe you are at a level of carbs now that stop your weight loss. Start counting again might be surprised at how many carbs you really are eating! At a certain level, more carbs in than you use for energy, and the insulin starts storing them as fat. No weight loss. Hard to think a out having to go back to being accountable daily. You have done so well...Good luck!
