    Having trouble keeping carb below 20 g. Any advice for vegetarians?

    Hi all,
    I started on Atkins yesterday. I am 170 lb and a vegetarian. I had 2 atkins bars and 2 atkins shakes along with veggies. At night, I got quite hungry and ended up eating a small bowl of rice.
    So I guess it wasnt a very good start for me.
    Today, I had 2 cups of mixed veggies (corn, green beans and carrots) and an Atkins bar and shake. I am already over 20 g of carb.
    Any advice or comments?

    Thanks for your help. I do eat dairy but i dont eat eggs/ fish. I used the free tools on atkins website with grab 'n' go option with shakes and bars. I definitely don't get very much protein on a daily basis. Part of why I decided to use the Atkins products, since they have a lot of protein.

    Hi Prm. A lot of this will depend on WHY you are vegetarian. If it is for ethical reasons - caring about animals and the way they are treated - then you will have to find ways around it. However I reckon as you eat dairy your reasons are not ethical but health, and in that case you could be convinced otherwise if you read some of the low carb sites about the natural diet of humans. Milk and wheat are much less natural for humans to eat than meat.

    You don't need protein so much as fat. If you plan to stick to being veggie, I would recommend you find out about coconut oil, as well as being good for you it tastes heavenly
