    Linda130 Just Started

Hi! A bit about myself. I just started the Atkins diet 4 days ago and have already lost 4 pounds! I started out weighing 195.2 pounds

I have been on diets before, even lost 60 pounds in 2008,but had gained it all back in a year's time .My failure was getting back into old eating habits,as is the problem most dieters faceI've had many starts and stops over the past couple of years and after deciding on the Atkins diet,I am motivated to see it through

I have a sister who is also on the Atkins diet .I did not know untill I told her last week that I was
This is giving me extra motivation.

I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast, have a cup of coffee. For lunch its a serving of chicken breast,or pork loin along with a spinach salad and an Atkins Advantage shake. For dinner its another serving of meat, along with a microwaved potato, salad and for snacking I eat roasted almonds

I hope to lose 60 pounds and be down to 130

I know a potato seems a bit much, but I read that complex carbs play an important role, along with the protein in speeding up your metabolism.Almonds only have 5 carbs per serving. The potato is the only carb food I allow myself.Didn't think it would hurt much.I admit I haven't read up much on the Atkins diet, but I will

Hi Linda! Great news having you here and on the roll to a new self and way to live! Yes, the one thing we learn from the book, is that any carbs over 20 on the induction or food not not on list of acceptable foods will slow down or stop our weight loss. We are trying to get out bodies to use the fat we have for energy and when we eat to many or the wrong carbs our body will use them instead of the fat. I got this way because of too many carbs in my daily eating and now am finding out that I can do without the potato and am saving my almonds for when I loose more weight. Te Atkins.com website has a lot of information and lists of foods. You don't have to start at the induction level if you don't want to. Take a look and see what works for you. Count you carbs and eat only those on the allowed lists for now. You will find it is almost too much to eat!

I hope we hear a lot more from you!
