Day 1 success, but Hungry at night (:

    Hello

Started yesterday with my low carb diet, I do eat vegetables with every meal though:

    * For Breakfast, I had egg whites omelet + veggies
    * For Lunch, Tuna with veggies
    * For dinner, Chicken breast + veggies

Around 10pm, I had strong sugar cravings and hunger. I didn't eat anything though

I heard somewhere that exercise is making us hungry, is this correct? Since I did exercise yesterday in the afternoon. I love to exercise, I hope it will not make me hungry as yesterday (:

Bluehex, what could she have eaten just before bed? Is one thing better than another for that time? I think I would have reached for a chunk of cheese.

In reality, when I stick to the low carb, I'm almost never hungry.

Thank you for your advice and I think you are right, I should have eating more calories. That's why I bought today organic peanut butter, no added sugar
1 tbsp is an massive 100 calories, this should help me to be more satisfied at night.

Yes basically I'll try to take out all sugars fro my diet, and only eat the carbs that comes with vegetables. ( I don't eat fruit at this time), my friend told me that natural peanut butter is very healthy for my body, because I eat very little fat.

But thanks for the tip on those other nuts, I will check them out.

You may need more nutrition. When I started making green veggie juice daily, I was no longer starving at night. I crave less junk too

Try eating some wheat bread or biscuits when you're hungry. I do that everytime I am hungry especially in the middle of the night.

Bluehex why are peanuts supposed to be higher carb? My peanut butter says on the jar 9.5g per 100g of which 3.7g is sugars, and 100g is nearly half a jar.
Luka I'm not doing Atkins but 'my own thing'. You will find this diet hard if you try to be low fat - read the posts on 'rabbit starvation'. Fat in itself is not bad for you, only certain kinds of fat (processed vegetable oils are the worst) and you need fat to help you not feel hungry. If you want a taste of heaven try peanut butter with coconut oil - I'm working on a low-carb fudge recipe with this when I get it right I will post it.

I have managed to get through my first 2 1/2 weeks by being prepared, i have made ham and cream cheese rollups, crispy strips of pork belly (dipped in curry mayo..yum) and a bowl of sugar free jelly with cream, i have kept them in the fridge for times where i feel peckish between meals ( not very often, i have to admit). I also made flaxseed crumpets, (ground flaxseed/linseed, eggs, oil, and a bit of grated courgette. not the full recipe) which are very low carb. i dont think i would have managed without these backups in the fridge, i dont need them now as i am never hungry.

    Hi Tracy and Edsmum,
Come join us in the progress thread. There are several of us over there. I think almond butter would be good/w coconut oil, too, FlorayG.
I am Arlene and Dr Mary Vernon says it best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaquSijXJkQ for me. I used to stand under my plum tree waiting for the fruit to ripen and fall, now I stand near a coconut tree.

    Smile Just starting

I just started low carb. It is my third day. I have had very bad acid reflux for over 6 months with NO pill working for me. Since I have not eaten any sugar or while flour, my stomach is so much better. It is like a miracle. I also need to lose about 35 lbs and hope this will be a good way to do it. I just got some Carbquick in the mail and it will be good to make some bread. Found a very good hamburger bun recipe. They also have lots of recipes on the box and in the box. I hope I do well. I am very pumped up about it. Dreading going out to eat but will take my dressing and eat carb smart salads and steak. Yum. I have a carb free, calorie free, sugar free dressing from Walden Farms. Anyone ever heard of it? Fantastic. Balamic dressing is the best.

    HI Suzy,

I'm almost at 3 weeks now and feel great. I have a very long road ahead but have decide to make this way of eating my lifestyle rather than a diet. If you really want to 'have at er', you need to follow the rules of induction to the tee for the first two weeks and don't cheat at all,.....I mean not at all. You can't sorta do it half and half with a low cal diet, you have to do it 100% in order for it to work for you. Carbquick, though I'm not sure what it is, I feel confident in saying will not be allowed in the first two weeks. No starches- breads, crackers, flours, rice, potatoe, pasta, and no sugars, -manitol, sorbitol, fructose, glucose, dextrose or any other kind of "ose'. Read your labels very closely. For example whip cream ( no sugar) is fine , milk-even skim, is not. I have found that a number of health issues I was having, have cleared up already which to me, speaks volumes. It's hard to wrap your head around a whole new way of thinking after years and years of being told fat is bad and you still have to watch the types of fat you consume but it can be done and the wonderful people on here are proof of that. Just read some of the success stories and you will be amazed.

Good luck on your journey and keep us all posted

Thank you so much for all your advice. I will admit that I made the carbquick ham buns and they are great. I will stop that right NOW!! For two weeks. Boy, that will really make it hard for 2 weeks but I will do it. Google "carbquick" and you can use it now being 3 wks in. The buns I made are great. I found them on a website and if you want the recipe, just say the word. Thanks..tomorrow I guess I will really start Adkins. 100%

    Keto Sticks

It took me a week or so to establish a deep level of Ketosis. Upon arriving at that state my feelings of hunger are greatly reduced.
I have a bottle of keto sticks in the bathroom which are a great way of keeping track of my eating habits. There are many hidden carbs so its nice to be able to keep track as often as i want.
