    How long in Induction phase?

Hi all. Im new to the site and have been reading many threads. There's a great amount of info on here. I have 2 questions to ask.

    1. How long do most folks stay in the super strict induction phase?
My assumption is at least 2 weeks or personal preferance based on weight loss goals etc.
My goals for reference would be to lose in the vicinity of 40lbs over 2 1/2 months. I'm getting married Oct 29 and want to look my best.

I've been a gym rat on and off for 15 years and know that when bodybuilders want to cut and go on a ketosis diets they usually give themselves one day at the end of the week for a glycogen refill day. (cheat day). From my experience thats usually after a strict "induction" type phase.

    2. What is your experience with a cheat day after induction? Do most stall for the greater part of the week til ketosis kicks back in?

Thanks in advance. If these questions have been answered already I apoligize for my newbness.

You can do 'induction' for as long as you like. Most people do it for 2 weeks as the Atkins book says but I did it until I reached target weight which was about 3 months I think (read my progress report). I think it depends if you like the food. I could live on bacon and egg.
I don't know anything about cheat days but to be honest I can't see the point of them - if it's working, why cheat? I think the bodybuilder thing is if you are working out really hard and want to build massive muscle

I agree, i think if your going to commit then commit 100%. Also if u lose a few pounds and have a cheat day u cud end up putting it all back on and not get anywhere.

Yup I agree. Stick with it and I would do induction for as long as you can and if you cheat in induction you basixally will set yourself right back to the begining. You will easily reach your goal by then if you are diligent. Make sure you read your labels because there are sugars and disguised sugars in almost everything.

    Good luck
