    Red face Starting diet tommorow wish me luck!! =D

    Starting my diet tommorow!! wish me luck!
    I weigh 146 pounds (10st 6) --- put on weigh Eeek!!!
    and i am 5'7 or 5'8 im actually not that sure!
    Anyway i look forward to some support from this site as i always end up giving
    in to a delicious treat! my goal is 126 pounds (9st) would be my dream to get too that weight!

    Good Luck on the new diet I started the atkins on Monday so far so good. My goal is 125lbs too. Your not that far away so it should not be to hard if you are determined you can overcome anything

    Good for you - find some other 'delicious treat' like a fillet steak! Just as nice and much healthier than sweeties

    I'm an inch shorter than you and would kill to be 10st 6lb! But I do take your point, 9st should be just about perfect.

    My tips:

    #1 - be prepared - always be prepared. If you are going to a function eat a little legal meal at home to take the edge off. Then you can 'cherry pick' the offerings without feeling faint with hunger!

    #2 - Fresh is best - try to prepare your meals from fresh ingredients and eschew 'products', even ones that say low carb or are 'approved' Atkins stuf. They WILL stall or slow your weight loss. Don't buy anything with more than 8 ingredients (I keep it under 5, but I am a bit fanatical LOL).

    #3 - Weigh less frequently - don't become a scale addict, it will depress you if the numbers don't move. And there are times when they don't move for all of us. I measure monthyl (although I do occasionally cheat mid month . . ) Which leads me to the next tip . . .

    #4 - Measure - the tape measure is a far more accurate indicator of what is going down. Once a month at the start, and as you get close to goal maybe once a fortnight.

    #5 - Give up grains - for the most part, grains are evil Read this article. I have kept a bit of brown basmati/wild rice mix for occasional treats (I have little 50g bags of the cooked mix in the freezer) and I like seaweed rice crackers, but that is it for grains on the whole.

    LOL, look at the date the original was posted...... I do hope shimmerdustystars is well into the program by now! But Odille, I find the more i review what you wrote, the easier it all becomes. Good words for all newbies.
