    Vac on induction

    Hello
I am still on induction and am going on Vac for about 2weeks so I will be in a long 6 hr plane ride, I doubt the food will be edible or atkins friendly for the entree on the plane. Anyhow I was thinking of including almonds just for the Vac then cutting them out once I return home. They are so portable. Any other snack ideas while traveling?

Since starting at the end of last July, I've been on a few trips (some long ones by car, and a couple by airplane). I didn't really worry too much about it, I just tried to get by with whatever I could find. I knew that when I got back home I'd have to start over, in effect.

That being said, I also carried almonds (pre-measured, put into snack-sized ziplocks, so I didn't have the tendency to overeat), beef jerky and cheese sticks. I tried to keep my water consumption up (although, when you're on a 10-hr car ride, you don't necessarily want to be stopping once an hour!). For the flights, I would buy a salad to take on-board with me. At least in our airports here in the US, there is typically some kind of a "grab and go" place to pick up a salad.

My most recent trip was two weekends ago (10 hrs by car on a Friday, then 10 hrs home on Sunday -- the flight was cancelled at the last second, so we had no better option than to drive it!) -- I knew going into that weekend that choices would be limited. For example, Friday night at a French restaurant with a group of people. I didn't want to go into a restaurant that nice and try and explain that I'm low-carbing (although I'm sure they would have been very nice about accommodating dietary choices, given their prices!), and I didn't want to make a big deal about it with the group I was with. Even so, the woman sitting next to me made exclamations about what I was turning down or leaving behind (bread, half a boiled potato, etc) . Virtually everyone else at the table ordered a dessert souffle, but I was more than happy with a very small cheese plate. There were three small slivers of fruit on it (honeydew melon, apple and a poached pear). So -- despite being careful over just a weekend, I gained 6 lbs! I'm not fretting it though -- it was most likely exacerbated by under-consumption of water the entire weekend. It's been a little "sticky" too -- I'm only down 3 since the trip, so I'm at a net +3 after a week and a half.
