    I'm back!!

    Hello Everyone!
    I was last here in 2008. I have since had a baby so I had to go off atkins. I gained 30 lbs while pregnant then another 20 after the pregnancy. I was nursing her for 21 months so I was unable to do atkins. So finally I am so excited to be back and loose all my weight again. I orginally started atkins Sept 2006 and lost about 50 lbs, keeping it off for about 3 yrs. Anyway I resumed atkins two weeks ago and have lost 11 lbs so far. I'm having a hard time consuming all the meat. I am more of a veggie person. So my fave meal of the day is the salad and brocoli or any other veggie.

    I've heard others say things like "having a hard time consuming all the meat". I even have a sister-in-law (who "did Atkins" many years ago) who asked me "don't you worry about your kidneys on a high-protein diet?" I responded that "I'm not eating any more protein than I used to, and often times I'm eating less." My doctor, at an appointment this last week, asked how I'd lost weight, and I said "I followed your advice -- I'm not eating refined carbs and I'm concentrating on green vegetables."

    With Atkins, we're asked to limit protein to 6 ounces per meal, or less. For many people, that is a pretty big reduction in protein, and who can argue that a diet based on limiting protein (and limiting dairy fat) and getting plenty of fresh green vegetables isn't healthy? I've had more difficulty explaing to friends (at barbecue competitions, where beer and beer guts reign) why I'm not drinking alcohol.
