    Day 2 of Induction....feeeling sick!

Hi! I am new to Atkins and this forum. This is my second day of induction and I’m feeling a little off today. I feel light headed, a little nauseas and just want to lay down for the rest of the day. Is this normal? Am I experiencing the “Atkins flu”? Any tips on how to feel better?

This can be a side effect, but isn't experienced by everyone. Your body will experience a period of withdrawal. My suggestion would be to drink lots of water and yes, do rest if you can.

Thanks Kathleen! I've decided to skip my spinning class tonight and just rest. I will resume with my workout tomorrow.

You might want to give yourself a couple of days without exercising. Your body won't be able to use ketones for energy until it starts producing a certain enzyme. It can take 4 days or more for that to kick in and work well.

If you get a headache, take an OTC med... drink more water... add boullion morning and night... spread your 20g carb out over the day (and don't eat LESS than 20g)... don't skimp on fats this first two weeks... don't try to "push through" the lethargy, it's real not imagined.

only on the 2nd day is a bit quick but yes it sounds as if you have the Atkins flu. You must give in to it just like you would with real flu, the good news is that unlike real flu it only lasts one or two days. Take it easy until it goes.

Try to eat the allotted half an avocado and definitely include some soy sauce at some point in your day's meals. Superfoods for combatting Induction flu.

I did Atkins about 8 years ago and remember this lethargic, feeling sick phase which started on day 2 and ended around day 5...

I'm on day one now, so won't be surprised if I feel wiped out tomorrow.

After this phase passed I had so much energy I actually found it difficult to sleep! Just wasn't tired.

I was the same for about 36 hours after that my energy returned and I feel great. Oh and welcome to the board. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

oh boy , did I get the Atkins Flu BAD! It started on day 3. Today is day 5 and I was pretty good for most of the day. I had to add in a few more carbs and have been not exactly doing Atkins in that I am eating nuts and some dairy. But I am tracking cals, carbs and sugars on My fitness pal. I have also used the ketostyx and I have been in keto the past 2 days so I guess my body will do it around 30-50 carbs. I know this isn;t Induction but it is working for me so I am going with it! My cravings are gone!
