    Eating Out?

I do eat out a lot and was wondering if anyone has put something together that says if you eat here we suggest this and this?

Or do you basically just do your best to order salads etc.

You don't have to order just salads!!! They're easy... and sometimes they might be your ONLY option... but most places you have more choices than that.

Scan the appetizers for options... order one or two appetizers instead of an entree if that works better.

I totally skip the pasta entrees... don't even read those. LOL

Go to the chicken, beef and fish. Look at what comes with each of them... then be prepared to ask for what you want and can eat. Order a steak.. but instead of the potato that comes with it, ask for double the veggies (if it comes with an acceptable veggie). Or ask for a side salad sub for the starch. Or ask for two different veggies... if the beef comes with steamed broccoli and the fish comes on a bed of steamed spinach, ask for the spinach instead of the starch. If it's on the menu, it's in the kitchen... make up your own "plate" and ask for it.

Hope this helps. Eating out on plan is definitely possible and you don't need to eat salads all the time. Unless, of course, you want to. LOL

Tell them you can't eat wheat - they will be used to that and think you are coeliac. That will dispense with most of the stuff you don't want. Then ask for all dressings and sauces on the side so you can choose whether to eat them or not. For dessert check the menu and ask 'is the blueberry cheesecake home-made?' and if they say yes call them out, ask if then can you just have a plate of blueberries because they must have them...

I've been doing good...sticking to Subway and places I can get a Salad. Subway works great because I can get a salad with grilled chicken and do vinegar/oil for dressing.

I may have mess up today, but the family and I were at a sweet shoppe and everyone else was getting ice cream. I tried to find something and ended up settiling on a smoothie that had skim milk, chai, banana, and low fat vanilla yogurt. Hope I didn't mess up too bad. What do you do in that scenario. The rest of the fam is sugar junkies.

Ooh yes that was not good - I know how it is. The banana especially will have kicked up your carb intake well above what it should be. There are 2 options in a case like this
    1. Have no other carbs at all that day - but no good if you have already eaten some, and that one treat may still be too much.
    2. Just Say No, as the drug posters say. Sugar is a drug. I say, 'no thanks, I don't eat that stuff any more'. I always have some nuts in my bag too.

And of course be extra strict next day to get ketosis back.

Yeah, I agree... in some cases you simply have to say no and not get anything. Just because everyone else is poisoning their bodies is no reason for you to do it. Like Floray does, keep an emergency snack in your purse. Nuts, sf gum, a cheesestick... anything. I've got to ice shops with my family when the kids were little and ordered a diet soda.

You'll probably experience cravings today... feed them protein and fat and drink extra water. Don't give in to the cravings... it will only get worse. Things like this can the beginning of the end if you get my drift. Fight it.

Agreed! Avoid those places if you know the fam. is headed there. It all depends on your will power. I can sit there and watch my family eat ice cream and it doesn't bother me. A plate of spaghetti would be a different story.
