    atkins brand foods...on induction

why do so many atkins brand foods state they are suitable or phase 1 of atkins...yet so many on here and other forums say they are not?

why would the man who pioneered the diet make stuff that would ruin the 1st phase of the diet??

    thanks

Technically, they ARE okay for P1... but in real life, many REAL people find they don't really work well for weight loss.

Dr. Atkins died in April, 2003. He has nothing to do with the current company or diet. His last contribution was "Atkins For Life" published in January, 2003. The company went bankrupt in '05. In 2006 it was back and THAT is when the focus on prepackaged convenience foods for the different phases appeared. Last year the company published the lastest verson of its diet... A New Atkins for a New You.

It is if you stick with real, unprocessed foods. Veggies, meats, eggs... you don't need bars, shakes, cookies. It doesn't take any more effort to eat a boiled egg and cucumber than it takes to eat frankenfood. Your body will thank you!

I like diet orange soda or diet root beer with a bit of heavy cream mixed in. MMMM mmm Creamsicle and Root Beer Floats! I also like Crystal Light hard candy. It's the only sf candy that doesn't bother my innards.

When you move into OWL, your "sweets" can come from berries.

Sometimes we all like a little something sweet... I just have an "issue" with things like the Atkins bars for snacks. Your snacks shouldn't be sweet, IMHO. At least not on a regular basis. Snacks should be real food, eaten because you're hungry between meals. I have three Atkins bars in my house. I have a trip next week and will take one or two of them with me. They will be my emergency food... in case I get into a situation where I can't get anything else to eat. I probably won't eat them, but I feel better having them. LOL

Try not to rely on them, but I do enjoy them as snacks or when I'm in a hurry and don't have time to make breakfast. I find that I did lose weight while eating them, but I stuck to what the book said: keep it to 2 a day at maximum.
