    not working! help!

    Hello, can anyone help me?
I am female, 39 and have pcos.
I have been on the atkins for about nearly a month now and I haven’t lost a single pound despite the fact that I have been in continuous ketosis for about 3 weeks …
The stix register I am around the middle mark generally but it goes to either side occasionally…but is always in ketosis…
I ama vegetarian and have been eating quorn and a bit more cheese to replace the meat…but everything else is by the book.. and I am always under 20g per day.
I have also been using carb blocker to assist…
‘I have started to reintroduce small carbs now…but seems pointless as I haven’t lost anything.
I have numerous books on this, so I am following it properly – even gone so far as checking the carbs of various medications…but still no luck
I am only 10st at 5’2” so its not like I am obese…I only want to lose about a stone.
I cannot do much exercise due to a back condition but I am completely mobile.

I did this diet a few years ago – actually by accident! – I discovered a meal I really liked and just ate loads of it, over a few weeks and the weight judt dropped off…I lost a stone and a half…I worked out later id inadvertently done the atkins – even though I had undoubtedly eaten bread and sugar in that time… ( I rarely eat rice or pasta anyway, and eat some potato, but not that much)

Any ideas what could be preventing this from working?

    Thanks for any help

Not knowing what you're eating or how much... my first guess is too many calories. You're in ketosis, so it's not the carbs. Perhaps you're just eating enough to maintain your current weight?

A stone? 14 lbs? That's very little, and the second time around your body is more resistant. Always takes more time the second time around. Obviously, PCOS doesn't make things any easier.

Otherwise, as Tril said, without knowing exactly whay tou eat, I can't say anything meaningful...

hi, thanks, no, i am not eating much at all..i have never been a big eater...even less now...

each day on average i have - sometimes more or less -

2 egg, 3 veg bacon, toms and mushrooms

dinner a 2 egg omellette with cheese, quorn bacon, mushrooms and onion or similar.

tea is veggie sausages, perhaps some brocoli, cauli, cheese etc

maybe some sugar free jelly if i need a snack...

smallish average portions as i get very full fast and feel ill if i over eat...

do you think i should just go on to the OWL bit for a while and see if it comes off slowly?

    thanks

Hi, the only other people doing Atkins with me is my partner and work colleague, my collegue is veggitarian too! All three of us are loosing weight.

    - I would stop the carb blockers You need the 20 carbs to help your body. You need some carbs. You're trying to change your diet for the better and it can't do that if your prevent it from doing what it's supposed to do.

    - Bare in mind that process foods are usually higher in sugar, carbs and salt. Make sure the bulk of your 20 carbs is coming from green stuff and not packets. If the food is high in salt, drink extra water (salt retains water and the only way to get rid of water retention, is to drink more water).

    - Make sure you're drinking at least the recommend amout of water and spread it out over the day. Your body can only get rid of unwanted calories and other stuff if you're going to the loo. No water, no loo!

-Record sources. If you're eating them, include them.

-Try alternatives to package food, or maybe use them in combination. Try a pepper, onion, cheese and tomato frittata. Or cheddar cheese and faux bacon omlette. Faux sausages and faux mash (mash made from colliflower, butter, cheese and cream whizzed together). As a snack I eat a bowl of salad and Boursin cheese (garlic and herb cheese). Try roasted vegetable curry, using cream and butter with the curry powder.

I'm no longer a veggie, but was for over 10 years and was also addicted to container type food. So I really help all this helps!

    Good luck x

Ps. I searched on the Internet for 'Veggiterian Atkins Recepies' and lots came up
