Great to read about all the progress of my "trailmates." I have recovered from my infection. Appetite is back. Eggs in the morning and tunafish salad for lunch. Sticking to roast beef or chicken in the evening, all with a hearty salad. Ketostix results are "moderate". I've added some peanuts, cottage cheese and carrots. Lost two more pounds this week. I am still off the exercise and plan to begin a slow cardio program on 15 February. Just step machine, stretches and some big muscle group exercises. This is working, so no big changes. I am still pretty close to my induction diet, with some added soybeans. "Tryin not to fix what ain't broke".

Your right Ed,..the need for instant gratification is what brings alot of people down. It's a hard one to avoid when the road is long and takes so much inner stregnth however it's all in how badly one wants that payoff at the end. I want it BAD!!

Congratualtions on your 2 lb loss. Thats GREAT!! You're nearly 1/2 way there!

Good to see that you ate still here and feeing better. Wonderful that you are still losing, too. If you
slow down or stall, take a look at peanuts and carrots. They are supposed to be close to maintanance foods. There is a lot of sugar in carrots and peanuts are not nuts. You should add macadamias, or brazil nut or almonds first. Yummy nuts!

Friends, This week I am looking to make a menu and stick to it. I have had great success doing induction since 1 Jan 2012. But I am kinda flying by the seat of my pants. Soo, I am going to reread the first 3 chapters of "Atkins" and make a day to day menu and eat just that. I know I'll try some new allowable foods. I am sure I will learn a lot. I am now at 178, so 17lbs lost. This works for me. "Plan your work, and then work your plan." Great to see all the success with my "classmates!" (Aradasky, Allie58, et al.)

Glad to see YOU having success, too! It's always a good idea to go back and reread the "how to" parts now and again. I've done that and thought, OH YA, I FORGOT THAT!

    Wishing you continued success!

    Hi Steadyed

You are definitely doing well Congratulations!! Preparation is certainly one of the keys. It's weird though, Clare and I were talking about it the other day, that for some reason we are both finding that we almost have to force ourselves to eat now. Before I started here I was always thinking about what I was going to eat next and now a lot of the time I think about what I should eat and then just can't be bothered. I do worry a bit that I am not eating enough and I do think that it might be slowing my loss down this week but it's like when you are sick and things just aren't appealing to you.

Anyways, glad you are doing so well and talk to you soon!

    Congrats on you progress!

Very good about rereading the book. Mine is marked and pages are bent at corners and highlighted and spilled on. I had it out for days and now still go back to it every once in a while. We have good threads here on the different levels as well.

I do make menus, mostly so I can go shopping and get most of what I want on sale days. Really helps for planning.

And like Allie says, on days when I just don't want more for lunch, I pull out my celery and cream cheese and have a couple of spoon fulls. I never would have thought that would be enough to eat and it keeps me until dinner.

Friends, Started my exercise program today. Got help from a trainer to set it up. I am working out at night (630-745PM). When I get home my appetite is pretty low. Drinking plenty of fluids and taking small meals. Great to see so many members since January. Can't tell you how much this has helped. Enjoying my re-read of the Atkins original. I am glad I've taken these first few steps and appreciate this site and its hardworking members.

I plateaued for a while although my diet didn't change. Stayed at 176 for almost two weeks. Maybe it's the shock of exercise. Came off some antibiotics after a few weeks. Who knows? The point is that I am sticking to it and continuing to lose. A pound a week would still be great. I am still loving chicken and broccoli. God Bless Tuna salad!

    Hiya Steady
Good to hear from you and that it's going well. You're over half way to your goal which is fantastik!! There are so many things that can make us plateau / stall, meds are one for sure but it doesn't usually last too long so "steady" on!

LOL!!! God Bless Tuna Salad! I love it!

Good for you for not giving up on your plateau! You may find, as I did, that 1/2 pound is what we get the closer we get to our goal. You ae adding in more and different things to eat as you go through the levels of Atkins and that is where you will find what actually stops you from losing, the level of carbs oer day, the food that causes cravings. All sorts of new emotions creep in as you add food to your day. Have fun but be watchful.
