    Muscle rest question

Does the "let the muscles rest a day" only apply to weight lifting?

I've been walking (vigorously, hills) daily following up with repetitions (20 each) of things like crunches, leg lifts, butt lifts, girlie push-ups. I'm sore as hell, but wondering if I'm being smart about it. Is it okay to do reps of all these daily, or should I concentrate one day on abs, one day on legs, etc.? I was thinking that because there are no weights involved (other than the cellulite ) that the muscle impact would not be as great so I wouldn't need to skip days.

I'm a SAHM, can't manage to get the TV long enough to do a vide0 without a gazillion interruptions, so I walk and then do my reps on the bathroom floor before my shower. Laugh, (I know you want to!) but its working for me! 8) I feel great! Soon I'll be swimming in the evenings after I put the youngest 2 to bed, too! I am so looking forward to that!

    Anyways... suggestions / opinions, please?

I wish I had an answer for you, but I get all of my exercise at the gym.

I switched from a 4-5 day a week to a 2 day a week program, fully expecting to get lower overall results, but a better ratio of result / time spent. To my surprise, my overall results have gotten BETTER since then. I think this is because I can really give it my all on those two days in a way I couldn't with just 1 day of rest in between.

I have also been working out pretty hard since I started the diet. I do cardio for at least 30 minutes, usually with a video from the excercise channel, then I do yoga for 30 minutes to lengthen and lean my muscles (or so they say). I have also been "sore as hell". My dad is a health-nut, work-out-a-holic and he says you should focus on upper body one day, lower body the next. I, however, am not doing that, but there is something to be said for the man. He is 56 and looks better than most of my guy friends in thier late 20s and early 30s. He has a sweet tooth, so I know the excercise is what keeps him thin.

Try the biggest loser workout, only 25 minutes. I know it can be hard to find the time, I have a 5 year old and have one about to turn 2. I just tell them it is mommy time. My little one tries to come and sit on me when I am doing crunches, but that's okay. Makes it more fun!!

Good luck, I don't think I was really helpful. Just keep excercising!!!
