    Bowflex

Hello, Group. Does anyone use a bowflex machine with the
power rods. I was thinking of trying one out as opposed to
the free weights. I don't know anyone who knows anything
about them. Any input on this subject would be appreciated.
    Thank you, gyroflex.

IMHO, free weights will always "outweigh" any machine. With free weights your body has to compensate for gravity (keep you balanced, keep the wt balanced)... and more importantly, with free wts you have resistance on the contraction and the extention. I've heard you get that with the BF, but you still lose the balance thing. Think about doing an overhead press with two weights. Each arm has to balance that wt as you press upward, one arm can't help the other... then, when you lower the wts, each arm (include shoulders, abs, back, neck, legs in this, too!!) has to control the wt on the way down. I just don't see how any machine can match that. Otherwise, why wouldn't you see professional body builders using these machines??? They don't, they use free weights.

Hi, Tril Your right in what you say about free weights.
I'm just curious as to what it feels like to workout with
one. They are expensive so I would have to try one for
    about a month ha ha.
    Take care, gyroflex.

My dh's business partner has a Bowflex. He says he likes it. I asked him how often he uses it... he admitted never. If you like "gadgets", you might like one of these. They have a 30 day free trial period, don't they? Who knows... it might just what you need. Will it work as well as free weights? If you use it, it will certainly work better than not doing anything. LOL One thing I will say about machines, they are harder to get hurt on. You can still get hurt... but at least you can't drop a wt on your head.
