    Exercise

I am going to just start walking every day on my lunch break, and trying to stop my fatty foods. I would love any suggestions that any of you have.

I walk during my lunch hour too. I bring a low-carb lunch to work and either eat it just before I go outside, or I take it with me and eat it midway, while sitting on a bench.

For me, getting out in the fresh air really helps me be more productive at work, and keeps me energetic. I do a couple of things to help myself along:

    1. Keep sneakers, a t-shirt and a hooded sweatshirt at work, so I have no excuse.
    2. I found three different routes I can take, depending on the weather and how I feel. One if flat, and half-sunny, half-shade. Another is very hilly and sunny. The last one is moderately hilly and almost all shade. So, if it is a very hot day, I'll take the shady route. If I have not much time and was up late the night before, I'll take the flat route. As much as possible though, I take the hilly route. I get a really good workout and feel really proud of myself when I get back to the office.

    3. I take a bottle of water with me. Sounds like a no-brainer, but if I forget, I notice the difference.

If you're doing Atkins, be sure you don't try to do it as a low-fat version. That's dangerous. You should be including healthy fats like olive oil in your diet.

Lots of people start running because they want to lose weight. As one of the most energetic exercises out there, running is an extremely resourceful way to burn calories and drop pounds. A 150-pound person will burn approximately 100 calories per mile when running.

    activity at work

Yeah, you can find some time for yourself to walk and exercise during at work.
for example: park your car further so that you can walk.

do not take escalator, climb stair can help to pump your heart beat.

You're on the right track. I lost a lot of weight with the same method in 5 months. I used to jog 4 times a week but instead of just avoiding fatty food, I used xxx diet meals. Basically its low calorie diet food and its completely natural. They best part is that you don't have to starve yourself with xxx and they even deliver at home. Avoiding fatty stuff is good, but using a natural low calorie diet, really accelerates the weight loss process.

    Edited to remove blatant advertising.

I need to second (or is that third?) the don't try to make something like Atkins low fat. Fat is not the enemy, carbs are.

I've been on a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet for over a year now, and I've lost a lot of weight, and all of my blood work is far better than when I started.

Fat is truly not the enemy the FDA and mainstream society has made it out to be.

It is if you're eating all that damn corn syrup that seems to be in damn near everything. It really is amazing all the places they add sugar.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that regardless of where you come down on the fat vs carbs debate, high fat + high carbs is bad

    Exactly...

Fat + protein = weight loss
Fat + carbohydrate = weight gain

Tracy, you KILL me! I just totally imagined you doing a Homer Simpson voice. And I like my fat too! Just the stuff I eat though, not what's plastered to my midsection.

You know how sometimes a message seems to not make any sense? I mean, the words are there... but the message makes you reread it and think, "WHAT?!?". The previous message did this for me... so I look and yes, it's the poster's first message (sends up more red flags). Next I check the profile and SURPRISE! there's a link to a website... a weight loss blog where SURPRISE! you can buy his eBook to learn how to "LOSE BELLY FAT".

This site if for the distribution of information, sharing of experience and support of your efforts. It's a community. If someone is here selling something, he/she is not part of this community. Be aware and be careful. No one here legitimately will try to sell you anything.

We/I could ask to have him removed... but there will always be another one. Just thought that pointing this out might help others avoid falling prey. For all WE know, he could be PMing members, too.
