    pizza no crust

How about making a pizza minus the crust?! Load it up with cheese, veggies, sausage, pepperoni, bacon. Go easy on the pizza sauce and be sure to count carbs. i've eaten before that way. Or you could even purchase low carb bread to put all the ingredients on.

I've made it by coating the bottom of a pie pan (I used a glass one actually) with pepperoni and then adding sauce, cheese and fresh mushroom slices... Doesn't hold together terribly well but boy is it YUMMY!!

    Calzones, anyone?

I LOVE THE IDEA of using the toppings as the crust. LOL!

I, myself, make crust-less calzones, ALL THE TIME. I have an oval caserole (sp) / side-dish / dish which is the perfect size for serving one. I combine mozzarella and ricotta cheese with some garlic and onion powder and maybe a touch of nutmeg. That's the base for my calzone mixture. Normally, I will use pepperoni, for that classic calzone taste, but I have used grilled chicken and peppers, sausage and peppers, ham, meatball. I mixed these ingredients into the mixture and spread out on my greased dish. I top with some parm or romano cheese and cook it in the oven on bake (make 350 degrees). I will broil it at the end if I want a more brown top.

I buy the lowest carb tomato sauce I can find that doesn't cost 10 bux a jar. LOL! Normally, it will have about 6-8 carbs. I don't always use tomato sauce with my calzones, though.

    OK, this morning I made:

    1 hamburger patty, cooked

    then layered:

-small amount of pizza sauce (yeah, bad, but no more than 2 teaspoons of sauce?)

-little bit of shredded cheese (I use the "pizza blend" - mozzarella and cheddar)
    -slice of canadian bacon
    -little bit of cheese
-couple of slices of "sandwich pepperoni" - large slices
    -little more cheese

Bake until cheese melts and browns if that's your preference. Yummy!

I have read a few posts where you guys want sauce for like Pizza ect..

I have found a brand called Essensia

They have a few different kinds the one I use is called Five Cheese Pasta Sauce. Total Carb 10g Fiber 5g so it's 5g for 1/2 cup .. They also have a Mariana sauce that is pretty good too..

I get Portabello mushrooms and put some of this on the bottom and then put Cream Cheese and Parmesan Cheese and mixed shredded cheese on top and sometimes I put some hamburger that I have cooked from the night before in it. I have also added Salami instead of the hamburger .. Put it in the oven for 25 Min's at 350 degrees and OMG its yummy.. You could add lots of stuff to this and make it your Pizza.. Yummy...

    Low carb tomato sauce

The search for low carb tomato sauce isn't necessarily easy, but if you go to your grocery store's pasta isle, I guarantee you will be able to find at least one sauce that is less than 5 net carbs / service. The current one I have is...

DELALLO (made in italy) Marinara Pasta Sauce...
    5 g - Total Carbs
    2 g - Dietary Fiber

The reason people think it's hard to find a good low-carb pasta sauce is because most people are used to Prego and other typical "commercial" pasta sauces, which have no issues using High Fructose Corn Syrup in large amounts. I was disgusted when I saw how many carbs were in these sauces. Prego isn't the only brand, but since I don't eat these sauces, it's the only one that comes to mind, off hand.

If you think about tomato pasta sauce, it shouldn't have that many carbs. It's supposed to be tomatoes / olive oil and seasonings, really. That's it!

This one I have here is...

    Pulp of San Marzano Tomatoes
    Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    Garlic
    Salt
    Parsley Basil
    Oregano
    Black Pepper

THAT'S IT! Nothing fact. Nothing chemically produced.
