I'm trying to get back into some sort of shape. I've really really let myself go this past year and I'm determined to lose some weight before the end of the year and so --- I've returned to one of my favorite internet places, the LOwCarbSite. I started Phase I of South Beach today and did very well.

By the way, I'm starting at 165 pounds and almost 25 percent body fat, according to my Tanita. Which on my 5'7 small frame looks enormous. I am REaLLY having to suck in to get into my uniforms. Which is embarrassing and ridiculous. BUT --- it's a new day, a new plan, and before long, a new me.

Well so far so good. This week, I've only done the workouts we've done as a flight. That means one game of "wallyball" and one game of "Gator Ball". But they were nice workouts. Nevertheless they didn't feel as formal as what I am used to when I work my swingshift hours. You see, I have three weeks of swingshift where I work my normal job fixing jets and then one week of dayshift where I work Honor Guard.
As far as this diet goes, I loaded up on eggs, Boca Burgers, morningstar farms veggie sausages, sugar-free jello, diet Snapple ice pops, diet sodas, chicken breast, spinach leaves (for salad), salad sixings such as mushrooms, tomatoes, light dressing, bacon bits --- salmon, lean steak, nuts, and even the South Beach microwave dinners. They have 3 that are appropriate for Phase I and I am very impressed with the nutrient content. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a fresh chicken salad overa microwave dinner anyday, but as far as frozen dinners go, South Beach is incredible! And our commisary has all their foods at very decent prices. 2 bucks for the meals, under 2 dollars for the stuff like cookies and frozen pizzas. I am so grateful that due to this "low carb / good carb" trend, companies like Kraft now make things like South BEach frozen dinners, or whole grain cookies. It's STILL a cookie, of course, but it's good to have the whole grains as opposed to not. But of course, no cookies in Phase I. I'm drinking LOTS of diet soda, though.
My Mom visited recently and I had started to do the BEachbody.com Power 90 Disc Two so I sent her away with Disc One and I promised to either chat online with her or calll her everyday to keep her motivated to workout. Bless her heart she asked me if I had a six pack today. hahaha. I am far from it. I would need to drop about 30 pounds to get there. And maybe I will. One day at a time.

I'm still doing great. As some know, when I do "low-carb" it's not as low as some. Right now I am not eating any starches but I do allow myself a little lee-way. I'm not eating cookies or crap like that but Sunday I do plan to have a few light beers. Really, it's Mike's Light which is about 75 calories and a few carbs. But I don't drink all the time. Just Sundays. I stay sober over the weekend because I do a Designated Driver program for the Air Force.

Oh and on a side note, I found out I won an award and I get to ride in an F-15 next week as part of my reward. I am very psyched.
