Hey guys, been on the Atkins diet on a lowbudget since i'm poor this month, i've been at it for 13 days now, on induction, consuming pretty much no carbs since I can't afford it so been consuming 0-10 carbs per day. Basically, i've been eating mostly eggs, soft boiled, hard boiled, omelett, and i've had a little bacon, and eaten lots of meat in the form of sausages and meatballs, which are high protein and fat.
For some reason, i'm experiencing a light form of nausea constantly in my stomach, and just thinking about food makes me feel a light urge to , lightly mind you, but still quite bothersome. I am eating food, but I can't really enjoy it because of the nausea. I started eating a tbls of psyllium husks 5 days ago because of some constipation, I am on no meds, and this is everything i've eaten.
As additional info my previous diet the last two years or so has been a mix of bread and lots of candy and cola and pizza and takeout, basically alot of unhealthy candy stuff, and alot of fast food.
What gives?

What gives? No veggies is what gives... a can of green beans costs less than fiber supplements. If you can afford "lots of meat", you can afford vegetables. You're not doing Atkins. It's okay, that's your choice, but please, don't call it Atkins.
Try adding more carbs from veggies and I bet you'll feel better. |

I was avoiding vegetables because I wasn't exactly sure how to properly measure them, I have no weight or scales and my impression was it would be better to underdo the carbs than overdo them, and I am already getting fiber supplements, but if you are saying that despite that, vegetables would make me feel better I will buy some right away.
What vegetables are cheap and low carb? I thought about buying beans but actually avoided it because it has something like 60% carb in them (was a weird grocery declaration on it). I bought a rootvegetable mix that I am going to try today, but that was actually really low carb, subtracting the fibers from the carb count it was 0.5carb per 100grams. Is that gonna be enough? |

Go to the atkins site (atkins.com) and get the food list for Induction... there also a great carb counter there. The other food lists are available, too... for the other phases.
There are conversion charts online to convert cups to metric measures... here's one:
http://www.botanical.com/botanical/cvcookix.html
1/2 cup is 120ml, for example. Avoiding vegetables because you don't know how to measure them isn't an excuse any longer!!!
Use the food list... eat your veggies! |
