i went to the gym for 30 min (walking on the treadmill) and so far, i ate 3 eggs with 5 pieces of salami.
im planning to work out twice a day (an hour each time) and eat below 20 grams of carbs. i am in 4 weddings this year. do you think i can lose at least 5 pounds a month from doing this??? |

Hello and welcome!
There is no predicting the weightloss rate - it depends on an individual very strongly.
I understand your urge for a radical approach, but - perhaps it would be better to assess your situation very realistically. I don't know how active you have been before starting, but two hours exercise every day is quite a lot. Are you sure you will be able to keep it up consistently? Maybe, for a long-term success it would be better to start at something more manageable, like twice half an hour? Or maybe, even twenty minutes and work your way up from there, adding 10 minutes every week? Remeber, if you set unrealistic goals for yourself, you are much more likely to fail.
Also, make sure you get the book and read it - this diet has many rules, and each of them is there for a reason. It's not just about keeping your carbs at 20 (and it shouldn't be less than 20). You should eat 12-15 g carbs a day from vegetables, and the right kinds of vegetables. You need to drink AT LEAST 64 oz water (not "liquids") a day - more, if you intend to exercise so intensively. And so on.
Please don't try to do it based on hearsay and media reports. Do get the book - it's short and very informative. |

I think you can do it. You are a smaller person and even though 5 pounds is a higher percentage of your body weight than it is for someone like me (6'2'') I think it is very achievable. 5 pounds a month is one of the more realistic and healthy fat loss goals I have heard. |

Some "tough love" here, and I hope, encouragement:
It sounds like you want Atkins for a quick weight loss for a temporary goal-weddings to attend.
What are you planning to do AFTER you lose your weight? THAT is the decision you have to make to see if Atkins IS successful for you!
Sometimes you read that Atkins "doesn't work" because folks gain back the weight. Atkins maintenance NEVER advises folks eat the way they did before. There is a plan to maintain.
I hope you want to do this going forward...that is the best mind-set for success!
And yes, IF you stay on Atkins and don't cheat, you WILL lose the weight!
