Starting date 6/10/08

Starting Wt. 280
Current Wt. 254
Goal Wt. 135

Total loss: 26lbs
Total inches lost: 16

Today was hot. My office is like a convection oven.
Food today was soo good. I make Mock Fried Rice for Dinner last night and so that is what I had for lunch today as well. I also tried the Egg Mock Muffin recipe. Nice. Perfect portable breakfast for me. I was getting tired of HB eggs.

This has been the most stressful 10 days I've had in a LONG time. My mother has been out of town and unreachable and my Grandmother got sick. (she lives with us) I ended up having to perform CPR until the paramedic's came. SUCKED. But I am very proud of myself. In a situation where I normally would have turned to food, I found other ways to deal. Like taking REALLY HOT showers.

Stephani501 saved me this past week. Thanks hon. You know how much your help and support means to me. (she even watched children for me!) Now that's friendship Laughing

This day is tiring me out... But my Mom is supposed to get back tonight. THANK GOD!

Awesome willpower and conviction! Also awesome CPR skills! I've often wondered if I ever had to perform CPR if I would be able to keep someone alive long enough that way for help to arrive or if I would completely forget how.

My mother got back into town yesterday night!!! THANK YOU LORD!! I feel much better now. Less of the sword of Damocles. Back to my same old stress. Rolling Eyes My grandmother is doing well at the Rehabilitation facility and should get to come home in a couple of days.

I am so proud of my mother. When she told me about her trip (25 mile hike over a glaicer and through the mountains to an old mining town here in western WA) Both me and Steph thought she was crazy!!! She hasn't hiked ANYWHERE in years so I was a little worried about her. I swear to you my mother is like a new person. She told me that it was the hardest thing that she has ever done. Harder even than 4 natural childbirths. But that she did it and lived. A little beat up in the end, but she did it. So now she knows that she doesn't have any exscuses for the little things that seem so daunting. I told her that was kind of how I felt about this new WOE and the control and strength it has given me. It was really cool to see her feeling good about her accomplishment. I'm really glad she's home and safe!!

Doing an awesome job today on plan. Drinking a gajillion gallons of water. Or so it seems. This whole grandma crisis totally set back my swimming schedule the last couple of weeks. So I really need to get my patootie back in the pool. (I KNOW STEPH!!!)

Time for my snack. Ciao.

You and your mom both sound brilliant. So daring. And if you ever get tired of patting yourself on the back for that CPR, let me know and I'll take over. I am in awe of your level-headedness.

Good luck with the swimming. It sounds wonderful. (Do I sound envious? Rolling Eyes Maybe just a little.... Wink

Roundeye-San::

I will be checking to see if you went to the gym today........

I want to thank you for being my rock through the past week. I love you so much for giving me support and helping me remember that I am in control and just because William felt the need to stomp my heart into a milion pieces doesn't mean that I have to lose it and use destructive behaviors to deal with it.

I have actually increased my healthy behavior! Maybe I can be taught new tricks after all.......hmmmm, interesting.

I want you to know how awesome you are and how much I appreciate you in my world. Together we will get to our goals, and I cannot wait to stroll into the Beach Club like BAM!

We rock!

I love you Cline-Roundeye-Cupcake!

P.S. You KNOW it's friendship when I will watch children for you!! BTW, I would only do that for you.....I'm just sayin'.....lol

Ok. So it is really hard for me to admit this. God know's I've known it has been coming for awhile now...

I NEED NEW PANTS!!!

My work pants started to get loose before I started this WOE so I knew that the time would come where they would have to be replaced. But I've been putting it off because I WILL be losing more weight. Well, Both belts I have been using are crap. One completely broke and the other one has no more "holes" left so I had to punch my own and now its tearing. ::sigh:: I really really hate clothes shopping.

Sooooo close to 30! I haven't been this weight in 4 years!!

I went to the Gym today and swam a mile. My goal is to go everyweekday this week since I had been slacking a little. I also am going to keep up on my food journal on my livejournal since I had also been slacking on that as well.

This weeks word of motivation: Persistance!

You sound like such a strong person. Congrats to your weight loss and as daunting as it seems buying smaller pants is a wonderful thing. Look at it as a reward to your hard work. I hope to also have such a task in a short while. Keep up your strong will and enjoy your swims.

Ok Princess::

Maybe you can take a new pic of me this week so I may replace the hated "pointy chin'' horror that I have up now.

I want to keep the offenses at a minimum, lol. I don't want to be up on charges.........lol.

Did you go to the gym today?

Wow... I love getting an instant update! I got these neat gloves for the pool last summer. They have webbed fingers, and really increase the work that your arms do while swimming or treading water. It sounds like you're really enjoying swimming... the gloves might be an option for later!

Have a great day!! Hopefully it will fly by! Smile

Toni- I've totally looked at the "gloves" Maybe I'll make that a goal reward! I competitively swam for 6 years in school, and then took a 10+ yr hiatus after a serious car accident. I knew that I missed it, but it took actually getting back in to realize how much! I also hope my day starts moving a little faster. I am cutting out early today to go get my hair done! Yay. Way overdue! My roots are showing! (Lol Steph Laughing ) and its getting shaggy. Short hair grows out way faster than long hair I swear!
Have a great day!

Yay! We are over the hump! I'm so glad that today is Thursday, because that means that tomorrow is Friday!!!

So I made it to the pool again this morning! Go me! Working myself back into a lap routine. It's funny because I'm almost to the point where I can space out and think about other things instead of stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe, ::repeat:: When I first started it was like a mantra. Now my body is just getting back in to the notion that this is what we do.

Does anyone else get inspired by seeing the same people at the gym everyday? I know I do. There is a core group of us daily swimmers and it's nice to recognize and be recognized. I used to be worried about what people would think re: my body type etc and that I would be embarrassed. But really I would be embarrassed by not being there. And those people that see me there everyday are going to see my body change for the better.

I got my hair done yesterday! Yay it was getting long and needed to go.

I do get inspired by the regulars at the gym (or in my case, the aerobic class) and also by the regulars on this forum. I'd like to think we will still hang around after we reach our goals and still encourage each other through the difficult times in the future. When we all become 125 lbs each let's try to support each other through the temptations and hard days.
I love your hair style in your picture Nik. Did you get it cut differently? I'm going in next week for a cut and color but I plan on keeping this same style for a little while longer.
You and Tril and I should post pics of our new hair styles, and anyone else who wants. I need to post pics of myself anyway, it's time for "before and after" photos.

Ignore the hot mess sans makeup pic's.

So this is what my hair looks like now. I had her take it a little two short. So in 2 wks it will be perfect!! My favorite was this from a couple of months ago...

But swimming really made it fade SUPERFAST.

I'm lucky that my hair stylist is not only my best friend since 2nd grade but also my daily swimming buddy!!! Score!!

Love the hairdo!! I can't for the life of me find somewhere to get my hair cut. I keep getting stylists who don't speak enough English to understand my request and end up making me look like a soccer mom every single time. Ugh!

Starting date 6/10/08
Currently day #66

Starting Wt. 280
Current Wt. 253
Goal Wt. 135

Total loss: 27lbs
Total inches lost: 16
Change: +2 WHAT??

Grrr. LL I actually growled at the scale this morning and was said "You've got to be kidding me!!" Then I thought of yr scale and giggled.

I'm a little dissapointed but won't worry unless it doesn't change in a week or goes up further. I seem to work on an every other week loss basis. But I've been so diligent this week with working out. I have actually started using fitday as my journal and I think that site is really neat. I like that you set your own nutritional guidelines so that it is adaptable to anyone using any weight-loss system. Anyone else use this? The one thing I have to remember is to subtract the Fiber from the Carbs to get my net daily in my totals.

Your hair is SO cute! You must have great confidence to wear a haircut like that... I'm afraid I'm a little too much "soccor mom-ish" to be that brave. Smile But I love it on you!!! It fits you.

Your talk about going to the gym/pool and seeing the same people hit home. I used to go to the Y... then they closed the workout room and I stopped working out. Well, they opened the workout room again but now it's just "unstaffed". That's ok with me, I didn't use a trainer anyway. I wonder if the same women still go there or if they all went to other gyms... most of them did when ours closed. The people who were there every morning was part of the reason I went every day. We were like partners in crime or something... and when someone didn't show, we worried about them. If you knew you were going away, you told someone so they didn't worry about you not being there for a few days. I liked that. Hmmm... I think I might sign up again. Now that I'll have an empty next in TWO WEEKS, I can take the time and do this stuff for ME!!! So... all that to say... thanks for making me remember and consider joining the gym again!!!! See? You just never know when something you say is what someone else needs to hear to make their journey more successful!!!

Day 69...

OMG. My body hates me so much right now. I did NOT go swimming this morning as I can barely navigate stairs and lift myself up and down from a sitting position.

This weekend was BUSY. My older sister turned 30 on Sat and my little sister turned 22 on Sunday.

My older sister wanted to go paint-balling for her birthday and I've ALWAYS wanted to try it. So seven of us drove about an hour out of town to the woods to shoot each other. OMG! What a rush! It was about 95 degrees and we were running, crouching, rolling through the woods wearing long sleeved camo and jeans as well as a full face mask. I am sure that I lost 10lbs in the 8-9 rounds we played over 8 or so hours. I am covered with bruises and scratches as well as my own War welts from getting tagged. But it was so much fun and such a good workout. I will definatly be doing it again soon. Paint-balls hurt!

That is just one area where I got hit twice. I know that there is no way I would have been able to do this at all 2.5 months ago. I would have died.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and I look forward to reading everyone's progress journals today.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on my hair! And encouragement regarding this journey into healthy living!

Tril-I am glad that I could encourage you by my posts and let me know how it goes when you get back to the gym!

Dear Ms. Nikle,

(upbeat music)

You are awesome and I love you
crazy paintballin' not a clue
that it might be hard to wear a shoe
'cause your body is one big bruise (music swells)

But you did it and it felt good
dodging bullets put you in a fine mood
you did something you never thought you could
and now youre planning your next trip into the woods

youre feeling sore but over the moon
I sip my iced tea thinkin' youre a loon
shaking my head considering booking a room
as to not get bitten by a huge racoon (and cryin') cryin'! cryin'!

(upbeat music)

but I am in, maybe I am a tad bit crazy
Im excited even though the forecast is hazy
I am ready to lay on the beach and be lazy
hope the woods are not like a giant maze-y

I love you!

Madame BP

Count me in for paintballing next time! I've always wanted to give it a shot. (haha, get it? I'm a dork!) Love the song, Steph! If Niki tries to send you snipe hunting while you're camping, kick her in the shin though.

Roundeye-

Thank you. I am always so comforted by you. We ARE going to have fun this weekend, I'm going camping!!!, and it will be great to just get away and focus my mental and emotional health.

You inspire me the same way, and I hope that you know that. I could never imagine this journey without you.

I love you!

Hey Nik! I loved those puppy pics you posted. So cute! At one point in my life, I wanted to be a Vet; I let myself be dissuaded by a Chem class Sad, but I now volunteer at an animal shelter, and love working with the dogs. I can understand why you would love your job!

Sounds like (from Steph's post:

Hi Nik...oh, that bruise, it's gotta hurt! That's something I would love to try someday...Paintball! Its so great that you get out there and JUST DO IT!
I loved the picture of your haircut and you know what? I asked my hairdresser to give me the same style yesterday and show me how to make it all spikey in the back like yours. It's close to yours but the front is a little longer. New hairstyles are fun!
Happy Day,
Sheri

So. I haven't really been posting on my own Progress this week because I am sucking at it... I've been on plan but didn't go to the gym at all this week... Embarassed It has been a pretty interesting week.

Today is what would be... (and technically still is) my fourth wedding Anniversary. We've been separated since 12/31/07 and are in the final stages of finalizing our divorce. I've never been happier. I have made so many changes for the better of myself in this past 9 months it's almost unbelievable. I feel a little sad, but only of what could have been. But then just like hindsight is 20:20 we always wonder what if...

Our camping trip to the coast is just what I need right now. I am so excited that I probably won't sleep much tonight. Well, hopefully some seeing as I have a 4 hr drive ahead of me. Weather is going to be crappy. Oh well.

I am also waiting to hear if I was approved to move in to MY OWN APT!!! So excited! So ready to live by myself with my daughter. It's another step to the reclamation of Nik. She's been lost for the past 7 years.

So we will be embarking on our adventure Friday morning so I won't be checking in till I get back. Crying or Very sad But I will be posting a full report including pictures!!! Miss you all.

Nik

Steph-Thanks for the compliment hot stuff!

Ent- Oooh! Don't you love it? I usually have the front a little longer myself. It will normal itself out in a week or two since she took it so short this time. I am so hairstyle challenged. So this is a style that is pretty much already done. I can either blow it dry or not. A little pomade and I'm good to go! My friend and I have been perfecting this cut for the past 4 years. I want to see a picture!!! Paintballing was SOOOO much fun. I will be doing it again!

Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad run, we all have them. We all got here likely as a result of lifetime of beating ourselves up. Keep your head up and be proud of what you have done so far and avoid that slippery slope.

Super congrats on the new start. You've got a great attitude about your life and that is a terrific asset.

I love your hair. I wish I had that kind of nerve but I'm bound to wear this wedge till I die. It's the only style my independent hairs will agree to!

I wish I was going camping with y'all but count me out of the paintball fight. These days I'm finding whacking great bruises and I can't even figure out what I hit! Oh well. Listen, if the two of you get stuck in the woods, just pretend you're Trill and clobber some furry critter and cook it - it's bound to be lo carb!

Have a great great time. I'll be with y'all in spirit. Send pictures when you get back. Take care.

LL

NIK!!!!! Have a grand time, be safe!! btw, yep, I sure love your hair, esp. that profile pic, with the red stripe, and it's all "stacked" up in the back. Sooo Kewwwl!!! BTW I wanted to say thank you for your post today. I was about to slam down a bunch of midnight nonsense, and opened my thread and changed my mind. How could I break my 2-nights-of-not-eating streak when so many people are rooting for me?? DANG it. I didn't do it. So....thank you, love! Razz
