This article that she posted has some fascinating and helpful information on water consumption. It think it's worth having here as a reference!



WATER FACTS

-Experts recommend our daily intake of water should be half our body weight in ounces. (140 = 70 ounces per day)

-Not drinking enough plain water can be as harmful to your heart as smoking. While not as glamourous, the degree of benefit from drinking plain water reportedly surpassess drinking moderate amounts of wine, taking asprin and other preventive measures.

-Drinking 5 glasses of water daily can decrease the risk of colon cancer by up to 45%, can slash the risk of breast cancer by up to 79%, and can reduce the risk of bladder cancer by up to 50%.

-Prelimimary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back pain and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

-Lack of water is the number one trigger for daytime fatigue.

-A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen.

-According to the N.Y. Times Guide to Personal Health, a reduction of 4-5% in body water will result in decline of 20-30% in work performance.

-In 37% of Americans the body's thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

-One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters in a University of Washington study.

-Even mild dehyddration will slow down one's metabolism is much as 3%.

As a person with weight issues, I found the last three items especially relevent, although each one is extremely important! Hope you are all doing well with your water intake. I know I'm going to try hard to do BETTER!
