Does anyone have any good party food recipies? Going to a birthday party on Friday and thought if I took something with me, I would have something to eat I read here about egg devils - what are these? And may be a cake some sort - I am only in induction phase so don't know if there is any cakes allowed at this stage at all. |

Deviled eggs are great... and easy to make. You simply boil eggs, peel and cut in half lengthwise. Remove the yolk and save the white "cups". Mash the yolks in a bowl. Add mayo and whatever spices, flavorings you like... I usually add salt, pepper, diced red onion, dry ground mustard, and a bit of garlic oil (thats oil of garlic, not garlic flavored oil). Mix it up well and then spoon into the egg white cups. Dust with paprika. Do a google recipe search and you'll find hundreds of recipes... just pick one with ingredients you like, keeping it low carb (don't add sugar, for instance).
Other take alongs... cubed hard cheeses, cubes of ham, veggie sticks like celery/peppers/cucumbers/zucchini and a low carb dip. You could bring a large tossed salad.... or cole slaw... or broccoli slaw.
There really aren't any "cakes" you can have. And NO FRUIT. Someone left you a suggestion to bring fruit and low CALORIE pancakes. Obviously not a low carb suggestion and would be very confusing to others so I deleted the post. Skip the sweets. You don't need them.

Thanks! I'll make those eggs and salad - that will give me something to eat:) I know already what they have in the menu and there's almost nothing I could have. I'll let you know how I got on at my first party while on atkins. |

I boiled the eggs but so many things came up unexpectantly that I had never time to finish them. Fortuantely they had chicken, so I had that and some egg slices that were ment to be decorations and some low carb veg and olives. Was so proud of myself! Never touched the cakes:) And this morning I had deviled eggs:) |
