I am puzzled about my husbands blood sugar rises and lack of weight loss. He is a type II diabetic and we have been atkinsing it since Jan. He initially lost weight (14 lbs) but has completely stopped (for 8 wks now) loosing weight. The other wierd thing is that even though his sugar is 112 when he comes home from work, it spikes to 150 in the am, fasting.
We only eat low carb, keep it about 25-30 a day. He is on metformin and glybiduride (he got off the insulin when the atkins brought his sugar down from the 200's). Any ideas? thanks! |

Well I am only in my third week of Atkins and I too am a Type 2 diabetic. I noticed for the longest time my morning BS were high while the rest of the day they were getting lower and lower and it was really making me happy. But when I added exercise 4 days a week my morning bs began to lower as well. I take Actos 45 mg a day. Is your husband exercising? Maybe he already is. I was just asking because I was experiencing the same thing. |
