Anyone want to do a online book club? It would be really fun and another great way to connect.

Hey Bella,
Yay. What do you like to read? Let's choose a book and aim for a discussion at around December 18th? Or maybe after the holidays?
What do you think?

I like to read everything. I have never participated in a book club before, do you discuss it while or after you read it? If it is after I would say after the holidays. Thing are busy here with a baby, but I find time.
What book do you propose? (I might have already read it, I'll let you know ) |

Hi Bella,
After the holidays then. I know what you mean. I have a two year old and a 7 month old. How old is your baby?
Do you want to start with fiction or non fiction?

I'm in. Reading for me is somewhere between an addiction and a religion. |

How about a new book... something being published in December. We could all ask for it for Xmas. LOL

My little 'monkey' is 15 months. He gets into everything! He always manages to hurt himself somehow too!
I would say fiction. I like reading fiction more than non but it's up to you guys!
It might be easier to do one that isn't brand new, Tril (I'm thinking good prices on used books on ebay, or half.com) but that again is up to you guys! |

I am so glad you guys are in.
Here are a few suggestions:
Fiction
To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night (Mark Haddon)
Alias Grace (Margaret Atwood)
The Abstinence Teacher (Tom Perotta)
Non Fiction
The Omnivore's Dilemma (Michael Pollan)
Escape (Carolyn Jessop)
Animal, Mineral, Vegetable: A Year of Food Life (Barbara Kingsolver)
Tril, if you liked King Corn you will like The Omnivore's Dilemma.
Okay, so those are my suggestions - take a look and let me know if anything appeals. These should all be available at the library or on ebay or amazon.
Yipee.

LOL I never get books from the library, I just order them from Amazon in lots of 20 and end up with boxes of books bc they won't fit my bookcases.
So...Omnivores Dilemma it is? |

"So...Omnivores Dilemma it is?"
No, we haven't decided. I just know, after reading the review on Amazon, that I want to read it regardless. You guys decide what you want to read... I may or may not participate in the book club.

I think I would participate in a book club. I read the summary of Omnivores Dilemma and it sounds like a pretty informative book. Iam up for reading whatever everyone agrees on. I like fiction and non-fiction. |

Welcome juju,
Okay so lets vote:
"Omnivore's Dilemma" or "The Abstinence Teacher" by Tom Perotta?

Okay, how about Omnivore's Dilemma this month with discussion aimed for mid January. We can settle the means of discussing it after the new year and then Bella since we are making you read non-fiction you can choose the next book?
Let me know!!
