Thought I would post to say Hello, I have spent a long time today reading various posts before taking the plunge myself.
I followed the Atkins diet about 7 years ago & lost quite a bit of weight, but as usual put it all back on plus more. In January '09 I decided that enough was enough & joined my local Rosemary Conley class, this class served it's purpose for about 6 -7 months in this time I managed to lose 50lb of the 100lb weight loss target. I made a very special friend at this class, we completed a 13 mile night time charity walk last June for our local hospice. We are flying out to Peru in May to trek the Inca Trail to raise funds for our individual charity that we have chosen.
It really has been a rollercoaster journey over the past year in one way and another. I have stayed at the same weight since Sept, which has been quite frustrating. I go to 5 different exercise classes a week ranging from Spin to Body Combat to Pilates and I love it (never thought I would ever say that about exercise!!). In order to get my weight loss moving again, I have decided to go back to following the Atkins diet as it was so successful last time.
Another reason to lose this weight once & for all is that My husband and I are going to Cyprus May'11 with our 2 young sons and some of our close friends to renew our wedding vows, also we both turn 40 next year so it seemed like the ideal time.

I look forward to sharing special times with you all and reading and following everybodies progress.

Take care

Caroline xx

Hi Caroline

We have similar stories - I too did a low fat diet last year and lost half of my target but stalled...well started cheating and got unmotivated to be honest! I didn't regain though so stayed stable and like you am trying this again. So far so good with 4lb lost in my first few days and definitely feel thinner. Feeling really motivated too and the forum is great.

Here's wishing us both luck!

Hi Tiggs,

Thankyou for your reply and yes as you say our stories are very similar. I do think that with a low fat diet you end up buying into the whole low fat no fat food idea in the supermarket without realising that the food has so much sugar or sweetener in. It does work for some people as it did for us both but now it's time I feel for a change.

This forum does seem to be really good and supportive. I look forward to following your journey.

Good luck to us both

Welcome! I hope the switch back to Atkins will jump start your plan!

You certainly have the exercise down...good for you!

Ah, your travels sound lovely! Post often and let us know how you are doing.

And my advice to all new folks, write down every one of your vital stats...write them down on a little chart and measure weekly. It is so very motivating.

My best to you...

Toni

Thanks Toni,

Reading other peoples posts is really motivating. I feel very positive and on top of the world at the moment. Just have to keep it up now !!
I find that breakfast is the hardest meal of the day, as I think it is for everyone.

Will keep you posted

Hey - glad to hear all is still going well.

I am thrilled to be back in some old jeans (a bit snug but who cares?!) and at 12 and a half stone - I can't recall when I was last at that. I'm not sure what my goal is but 10 and a half would be great. Next mini milestone has to be to see the scales say 11 something!

I love bacon and eggs with mushrooms or tomatoes so breakfast is easy. Do you not like all that? In fact I like all this food but have to be honest, I do miss fruit....

Was out and about yesterday and didn't want to get tempted so took a package of M&S v low carb sausages and some cheese - the sausages made me a few friends - both human and canine!

Here's to another good week for us both.

I'm so tickled both of you, Caroline and Tiggs, have similar goals. I will be rooting for you both as I c-r-e-e-p my way through those last 5 pounds!! I am no longer in any rush.

Good luck!

Hi Tiggs & Toni,

I do really enjoy eggs & bacon etc for brekkie, but some mornings I fancy something different. Tesco shopping arrived this afternoon with loads of new supplies; mushrooms, bacon, sausage (nice low carb chipolatas), cheese etc etc.
I'm looking forward to getting on the scales on Wed or Thurs morning to see how much I've lost.
How tall are you Tiggs? I'm 5ft 3 so I'd like to aim for about 9 and half, see how it goes from there.
I'm loving being back on Atkins again, not feeling hungry and forever snacking on what I think is healthy but is infact loaded with carbs etc and just makes me look for more grub. Not having the shakes anymore is one of the best things, I guess thats caused by sugar highs and lows.

Thanks Toni for the good luck wishes

I'm 5 ft 7 and curvy at the best of times! I am not sure what my final weight should be but 10 and a half sounds about right.

Glad to hear you have a few more choices - getting bored can be fatal can't it?

I lost another 2 lb overnight! I know I shouldn't get on the scales every day not least because it can go up randomly even while the inches drop... but hey it was a good start to my week!

Got to the gym today. I went once last week but was still in the awful lethargic/headache stage so it wasn't good. Much better today.

I'm feeling really motivated too!

Toni thanks for your kind words. I've never been on a forum before but all this support from around the world really does help

Hi Toni and Caroline

Actually this is a sort of hello and goodbye as I decided at the weekend that a two week blitz was great but I was struggling with the food choices so have reverted to what worked for me last year - limited carbs (I'm not going mad on bread and pasta!) but I need to eat fruit and pulses etc.

Still a big fan of low carb living though - ever since I did Atkins years ago I have focused on protein and proper fats rather than carbs... I'll be logging on to see how you are all doing!

Best of luck everyone,
Tiggs
